Today we’d like to introduce you to Esther Dejoie.
Esther , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey actually began during a very challenging low point in my life. I always knew I had big dreams, but I was feeling deeply discouraged until a powerful, uplifting conversation with my pastor changed everything. That talk gave me the clarity and motivation I needed. As soon as I got home, I sat down at my laptop and began researching how to break into the entertainment industry. That pivotal moment is what officially launched my pursuit of acting and film, setting me on the path to where I am today.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been anything but smooth, but my internal drive has always kept me moving forward. Early on, balancing my ambition with reality was a massive challenge. I was working a 9-to-5 and attending school, all while spending 12 hours at a time on film sets with barely any sleep. Dealing with rejection for roles I wanted was tough, too. But instead of letting it discourage me, I focused on keeping a positive, grateful attitude. Interestingly, because I stayed upbeat and focused on networking, I’d often see my roles miraculously upgraded. Gratitude and connection have truly been the keys to navigating the rough patches.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’ve always believed that I’m not just one thing, and my work reflects that. I’m an app developer, the founder of a talent agency, building my own production company and the creator of “Bullet Barbies,” a brand dedicated to self-defense. What sets me apart from others is my patience and my mindset; I refuse to rush the process. Right now, I’m taking my time to build my personal brand properly. I’m incredibly excited about some new video content I’m dropping on YouTube soon, but I’m making sure I’m in a great space mentally before I release it to the world. Plus, there is another venture I’m working on behind the scenes that I can’t talk about just yet, but I can’t wait to share it when the time is right. I’m most proud of my resilience and the fact that I built everything with absolute intention.
