Today we’d like to introduce you to Estefanía Peynetti
Hi Estefanía, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I moved just a year ago to Miami from Mexico City, where im originally from.
Ive always admired the arts and design. After pursuing a career in architecture I wasn’t very sure about, I devoted my time to my hobby and true passion, baking, which brought me to Paris to study at Ecole Alain Ducasse.
In 2014 Let them have cake became a reality in CDMX
In 2023 I was invited as a contestant on The Food Network’s The Big Bake season 4 and won!
In 2022 I decided to start expanding to Miami, through lots of learning and a long process of permitting and construction I finally opened my Cake Shop and cafe in september of 2024.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Finding my passion for Cake and baking itself was a hard road, after high school I didn’t know what I wanted and ended up in architecture school, never really liked it and it wasn’t until the end i started discovering this journey.
Starting form scratch in Mexico from my parents house was also struggle but I managed to eventually grow into a known brand and even made cakes for hotels like St. Regis and Four seasons.
Deciding to move to Miami was an extremely hard choice, after the pandemic business was not so good in Mexico and I decided to take the risk, little did I know it was going to take 2 years to even finish the build out . I had to learn about the whole process and in a different country while struggling with moving with 2 huskies and leaving the country I had lived my whole life in as well.
Being a new shop its been tough now were opening also learning and keeping the motivation to get people to come to the shop!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Let them have cake started as a hobby, became a business because I loved baking, but with my artistic background it took me a while to figure out my true passion in decoration of cakes, mainly wedding cakes and my specialty became sugar flowers that actually look like the real thing, its hard work that takes time and patience but my idea is to make works of art that also taste amazing. The floral cakes have a old world delectble look straight out of a classic painting, sugar flowers are idistinguishable form real ones.
In Miami the shop is about the wedding cakes but also about making connections and bringing people together with a war pink feeling! We have fun tea pots and cups to enjoy tea time, a delicious chocolate chip cookie, brownies, cupcakes and much more!!
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I like that people are very appreciative of quality and places that look good and taste good. Its a good city for foodies!
Its an interesting mix of cultures and nationalities so that makes it unique even for business!
Im not sure i love the extreme heat and hummidity..
I also miss mexican food!
Its also a big city so its hard to get known and get the brand out there because there’s so much.
