Conversations with Emily Rivero

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Rivero.

Hi Emily, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I started illustrating fashion when I was approximately 16 years old, in Maracay – Venezuela, I did a fashion illustration course on vacation, and by the time I finished it I was delighted with everything that was fashion and illustration. The person who gave me the classes told me that there was a fashion institute in the city. When I graduated from high school, I enrolled in the institute, but I couldn’t finish my degree due to the situation in the country. However, this institute said that it had an agreement with a university in Argentina, so we decided to migrate to Argentina to continue our studies in fashion (fun fact, when we left the country we decided to go by car from Venezuela to Argentina).

When we settled in Argentina, I was looking for information to enroll in the university and continue my degree, but the situation in both countries had already changed a lot and the agreement between universities was no longer available, but my dream and goal have always been the same, so at that time I decided to migrate again to the United States. During the pandemic, I spent my time illustrating mostly dresses and this year I decided to create my Instagram account to share my fashion illustrations so that others can feel inspired by them.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like everything, it has its ups and downs and its challenges, but it is important to believe in who you are, in what you have to give, and trust in your essence, each style is completely different and if there is something I like about the art world it is that there are no limits of creativity.

There will always be challenges and obstacles, but if you know what you want and where you want to go, you will do it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I currently merge my Instagram account as a content creator with brands and fashion illustration.

Being a content creator has opened doors for me to meet people and share the same passion for art, illustrations, fashion, and much more. I have worked with amazing brands, with great values. I work with brands through contracts or collaborations.

What do you think about happiness?
Fashion! See how with the trends each of us can transmit something different with the same garment. Seeing the diversity of styles and how each one gives me its own essence is curiously incredible.

Being able to communicate who you are through fashion, what you wear, and what you transmit. See how each of us can give it his touch and essence. The mixture of art, class, vanguard, and creativity that one can see in each style.
