Conversations with Dr. Liana & Katrina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Liana & Katrina .

Dr. Liana & Katrina

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We are A SPACE FOR CHANGE, Dr. Liana Lorenzo-Echeverri, LMFT and Katrina Lorenzo, MS, LMFT, two sisters and therapists born and raised in South Florida. We both graduated from
Florida International University (FIU) with a bachelor’s degree and received our Master and
Doctorate (Dr. Liana) in Marriage and Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University
(NSU).
After some time working with our mentor at their thriving group private practice, we decided to
take the leap and create our own private practice together. This was always our dream and what
we envisioned for ourselves. For a few years, we had a physical location for our former private
practice, South Broward Therapy, LLC. As time and life evolved, we decided to change our
name to reflect our core belief regarding therapy. Thus, A Space for Change was created. With
changing our practice name, we decided to evolve our practice into a boutique Telehealth private
practice as we found this gave us the space to be present for Dr. Liana's little ones and meet our
client's flexible needs.
With these new changes, we decided to continue evolving and lean into our creative sides.
Recently, we launched Create A Change: Private Vision Board Workshop. This is a space for us,
outside of talk-therapy, where we can utilize our mental health training and help guide others to
set intentions, create a vision board, and manifest goals in the comfort of their private events!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
For me (Dr. Liana), owning a practice has had its challenges. As I did not study business, marketing, etc. I have found it to not always come natural to me to take on the role and mindset
of a business owner. I have had to learn to navigate the challenges of teaching myself how to
market myself. The moment I reframed my thought process and tapped into my creative side it
became more organic and enjoyable to create with my sister/business partner. I was able to have
fun with it and eliminate the stress. I still have challenges when it comes to graphic designs, but I
am constantly trying my best to learn and apply myself for our business and to reach out to our
clients.
For me (Katrina), there are going to be bumps in the road, it is more how we navigate them. Of
course, there are things that come up, whether it is building our practice clientele, building
Create A Change: Private Vision Board Workshop from the ground up, being sisters and business
partners, something is bound to arise. What I admire about ourselves, is that we communicate
effectively and are able to overcome obstacles we come to face!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We are a boutique mental health private practice serving the State of Florida’s diverse population through the wonders of Telehealth. We provide maternal mental health and
individual therapy for those navigating life transitions, stress and anxiety, and much
more.
As a mother of two little ones, Dr. Liana's passion is working with mommies, mommies-to-be,
and new mommies in the postpartum stage adjusting to parenthood. I enjoy working with
expecting mothers, providing support for women during the perinatal period, postpartum period
and those grieving due to a miscarriage, and helping all mothers navigate motherhood.
We work together to facilitate discussions, process how this decision has altered their lives. I
work with women in how to navigate this new chapter in their lives. Take the time to reflect on
their wants, desires and expectations. Being a new parent is a life transition that can bring new
challenges. I am here to have discussions and present different perspectives. Together, we find
common ground where you can navigate the best decision for you personally. My goal is to
provide a safe and non-judgmental space to be able to have open conversations for my clients to
reach their goals. My intention is to empower and guide my clients to feel heard and understood.
Katrina’s goal is to collaborate with young adults and adults. I enjoy working with my clients
while building their self-esteem and helping them in navigating life transitions. Some of these
life transitions my clients may find themselves navigating is life after high school, life during and
after college, deciding on a career, or even working through relationships with others and
themselves.
In addition, I enjoy working with my clients to learn how to cope and manage stress and anxiety.
Through my years as a marriage and family therapist, I have learned and utilized Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy (CBT) tools and implement them when working with my clients to cope
with and manage anxiety.
Another passion of mine is working with clients through trauma. Trauma looks different for
every individual. My goal is to validate, respect, and honor my client, their trauma, and
experience while paving a way forward. With my guidance, my clients rewrite their stories and
take back their power in their story.
My clients are resilient, and I intend on collaborating and helping them by acknowledging their
strengths and resources and by introducing skills and tools to add to their "toolbox" as they
navigate all that life has to offer them. My hope is to create a safe, non-judgmental, and
comfortable environment for my clients.

Together, we carefully curated Create A Change: Private Vision Board Workshop to empower
and support groups to set intentions, create a vision board, and manifest goals in a fun, vibrant,
interactive atmosphere surrounded by positive energy! A primary tool for us, whether in our
daily lives or with our clients is manifesting. We believe if you think it, write it, or in this case
cut and glue it, and speak it…it will become true.
What sets us apart is that we are two sisters, business partners, and women whose passion is to
uplift and empower other women. We are relatable as we are a mom and two women in their 30s
balancing and navigating life just like our clients. Our like-mindedness, relatability, and empathy
is exemplified through our work whether through our socials, therapy styles, or Create A
Change: Private Vision Board Workshop. We are most proud that we stay true to ourselves and
that translates through our work and passion.
