Today we’d like to introduce you to Chule Von Wernich.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m from a small town in Argentina called Pehuajo. When I finished high school, I moved to Buenos Aires and got into vet school… Music has always been a part of my life but back then, I just didn’t think it was a possibility for me. As I was living in Buenos Aires, I uploaded videos singing with my guitar to Instagram and they started going viral, so I started receiving many job offers to sing at bars, birthday parties, weddings, etc. and I loved singing live for people so I started taking them. As that year passed (2016) the shows were more and more, and I loved doing them more and more… I was learning so much of this new “music” world and could finally see that there was a path for me to take, so by the end of that year I sat with my parents one night in Pehuajo and told them I was dedicating myself to music, and for some reason they didn’t seem surprised… The following years were super fun, playing with a band, traveling all around Argentina with them, meeting new people all the time. But I was singing covers, and with my mindset on always trying to grow as an artist, I started to get into composing songs and discovered this was what I truly loved. Writing about what I’ve felt, talking to the listeners through my songs, telling a story, trying to connect with them through a perfect mixture of words and melodies hoping they can feel something. And then comes the part of singing these songs live to this public, feeling that energy that flows when you are giving and receiving. I love dedicating myself to this and hope to do it all my life. Music is magical to me and never ceases to amuse me.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
What I’ve struggled with the most was going from being a covers artist to having my own songs. It wasn’t difficult for me, I actually loved the process and enjoyed it very much, it was having the people who followed me and liked how I interpreted others artist’s songs want to listen to my own creations and have them asking for when I would upload one of my songs instead of a new cover. It is still something in process, but I’m very proud of my growth and confident of all my new music.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’ve released many songs of my own, some collabs and an album interpreting folklore songs from my country called “Folk”. My latest release is a single called “Como Sera” which also has a video clip and is the last preview of my first all original songs album which will be called “TRIP” and will be released hopefully by the end of April. Here’s the link to listen to my latest release: ada.lnk.to/ComoSera
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I think things have changed a lot in the industry during the last years thanks to the power of social media which allows independent artists to have their own shot at being big artists known all over the world without the need of a big contract signed to a label and giving these artists the chance to have more control over their career. I like this because it gives the people also the chance to “decide” and connect with whoever they like the most.
