Today we’d like to introduce you to Bridget Rodriguez
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m a photographer and director born in Miami. I fell in love with photography in my high school dark room. I shoot medium format and 35mm film, enjoying the slow and gratifying process of developing the negatives myself. My focus in fashion has taken me to work in Los Angeles, New York and Paris. Contrasting to that, I capture simplicity. Pausing time- knowing one day it will look different. Thats the thing I love most about photography.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I noticed early on if you are truly content in a place of creation, it wont feel like work. Well, not all the time. The job isn’t easy, but I would say capturing someones energy comes naturally to me. Acceptance of it being a career was the struggle. Convincing people around me, and sometimes myself… that its possible to have a successful career in photography.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I get inspiration from my child-like wonder that sees pops of color in a concrete city. Also- vintage Vogue. I have an exciting project in the works that will be physically printed and bound into books. I’ve shifted my energy to building relationships with more earth conscious clients. My passion for creating a better world goes beyond which jobs I take on but how I live my day to day. Creating with intention.
Fun fact: I have a carefully curated (mostly thrifted) closet that I’ve officially opened up to styling clients and shoots.
While in Los Angeles I started working in film along side my best friend. Mainly editing and directing videos. We’re working on an special documentary based in Hawaii- more to share soon!
I’m proud to say that without the nicest tools, I’m building a career I’m proud of.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was a very observant, sensitive kid. Growing up I was always fascinated by photos, enchanted by the nostalgia photography created. I tried almost every sport, quickly finding out I’m not very competitive. I loved to express myself whether that be performing dances for my family, drawing, or making videos with my friends. Funny thing is- were still making videos.
