Hi Brian, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
It started when i was young. Seen a hypnotist at my high school when i was a freshman. I was amazed, I knew I would be doing this. When I was working fast food job at 16, I happened to see a yellow page listing for a hypnosis school. I called to inquire. The school was having a career night, so i attended. The school was for learning hypnotherapy, but I let the instructor know I wanted to do it for entertainment. With money I earned from my parttime job, I paid for my schooling, at age 16. How many teenagers at 16 are beginning their career? I’ve always been driven and not expecting someone else to guide me. With learning hypnosis, even as young as I was, I knew the mind is powerful and can make a difference in your own life as well as others. So over almost 40 years later, I’m still performing and keynote speaking. Over the years, I’ve done high school proms, grad nights, college events, military events, corporate talks and holiday events, casino’s, fairs and festivals, and fundraisers. So now that I have been at it so many years, I’m looking to be semi-retired in my 50’s, which I planned for in my twenties. When I get calls to perform at high school events, I treat it like a keynote motivational speech with live demonstrations to show the students they can become whatever they set their minds on and pursue it. I do something similar at the colleges, so the students can have a less stressful college experience and attain higher grades. We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
With entertainment, it is not a smooth road. It built my confidence and character to keep moving forward in life. It taught me to keep my eye on the goal and not give up. In essence i follow a simple philosophy “Face it, Deal with It, and keep moving forward”. I did learn from things that had I known, I would have not even tried, so sometimes ignorance helps me stay out of my own way. I find it prevented me from talking myself out of doing some things. Then I found I had more success moments.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My profession and work is as a hypnotist. Mostly entertaining with it, and now its more for giving motivational talks and hypnotizing audience members to show how powerfully they can program their own subconscious mind. What sets me apart from others, I started when I was only 16. I was able to convince adults to let me hypnotize them and have success. Ask yourself, would you trust putting your mind in the hands of a young 16-year-old kid? What I learned very early on was to have confidence and belief in self. I guess it worked out, as that was almost 40years ago.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
Those that made an impact in my life, my dad believed in me and told me to pursue my dreams whatever they were, and Dr Linda S Cooper who trained me in hypnosis, and Marshall Sylver who trained me in stage craft to demonstrate hypnosis properly.
