Conversations with Anthony Vadell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Vadell

Hi Anthony, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up being a huge fan of movies and having these crazy ideas of what these filmmakers should do next in their careers with these stories. I had all these ideas, but really nobody that had interest in hearing about them. I knew there was interest for it though given how much I would watch YouTube videos from creators like 3C Films, The Film Theorist, Sean Chandler, and ArtSpear Entertainment. That’s the moment I realized, why don’t I jp on the YouTube train and start up what later became Big Flick Energy (BFE). I read somewhere once that everybody should have 3 hobbies: One to make money, one to stay in shape, and one to stay creative. I invest in stocks, play basketball, pickleball, and tennis, and then BFE helped me stay creative. It’s a beautiful thing when the hobby for creativity can flex into the hobby for making money, and that’s what BFE has recently become.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Overall yes, but there have been periods where it’s been more of a struggle. When I was in college and now also when I’ve been working in my day job as an engineer, it’s been difficult to stay as consistent as I would like with some videos. Considering I try to keep my videos relevant to what is currently popular, there are some months I notice I have 6 ideas for videos where I’ll only be able to get 4 out, but the next month, there may only be 2 video ideas which slows down viewership in those times. It’s about having a game plan months ahead of what exactly you plan on releasing and if something unexpected comes up, prepare for it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My YouTube channel, Big Flick Energy, specializes in videos speaking on what these movie and tv show franchises should do next with their stories, theorizing what they plan to do next, and connecting movies many had never put the dots together for like all the DreamWorks movies or movies based on the Bible. I’m most proud of the community that’s been built this far. I’m most proud of the community that’s been built this far that proves to me this channel has a purpose. I started wanting a community to discuss my ideas with and that’s exactly what I found. That feeds into how I’m separate from others, I respond to EVERY person that leaves a comment down on my videos because that’s why I made it, to have conversations. Additionally, I don’t go searching the internet for ideas of what video to make next. Rather, when I see a movie or a show, something in my mind clicks that tells me, “That would be cool to see. Let’s make it.” I don’t wait for others to tell me what’s a good idea or a bad idea, because at this phase only being a YouTube Creator, I see this as the brainstorming phase. There is no bad idea. As the channel grows and I hope to actually have fan-funded shows/movies be created, that’s when these stories will be treated with great care to become something followers and non-followers of my Channel will grow to love.

What matters most to you? Why?
Easily having an outlet for these ideas that beforehand were just rotting away on the Notes app. It gives me the opportunity to feel proud of the hours of typing and thinking I did for these stories and have a community that is willing to discuss these ideas together. Big Flick Energy isn’t my community. It’s every subscriber’s county. It just happens to be my outlet.
