Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Guirand.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always been someone who loves connecting with people, bringing them together, and helping them feel like the best version of themselves. From a young age, I gravitated toward events, performances, and anything that involved community and expression. I got involved in performing, helping with fundraisers, and supporting networking events, and that naturally led me into content creation and using my voice to reach more people.
Growing up, I struggled a lot with my natural hair and especially understanding what it meant to have type 4 hair. It often felt complicated and overwhelming, and I wished there was someone who could break it down for me in a simple, loving way. As I got older, I realized I could become that person for others. I started creating videos to show that natural hair isn’t “too difficult,” it’s usually just a lack of education, guidance, and support.
Now, I do one‑on‑one conversations where I talk with people about their hair, help them understand their texture, build personalized routines, and recommend products that actually make sense for their lifestyle. Beyond hair, I love to be in community spaces, get the energy going, and make people feel comfortable enough to shine. Whether it’s getting people out on the dance floor, hyping someone up, or just creating a safe space, I’m in my element when I’m helping others feel seen and confident.
At the heart of everything I do is connection, care, and joy. Hair care is one of my main ways of serving, but my bigger mission is to remind people that there is a light in everyone. I’m really “for the girls” and for the community: helping people feel loved, understood, and confident in who they are, inside and out.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. For a long time, the hardest part for me was understanding who I am as a woman and what my place is in the lives of others. Many people go through that season of asking, “What am I really here to do?” and I was very much in that space, trying to figure out my purpose and how I wanted to show up for my community. Once I became clear on who I am and the kind of impact I want to have, things started to feel a lot smoother. Instead of forcing connections or worrying about being “seen,” I began trusting that the right people will cross my path at the right time. There are so many people in this world who need support with their hair, their confidence, or just feeling understood, and I know I’m meant to help as many of them as I can.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I wear a few hats, but at the core of everything I do, I’m a connector and an energy lifter. I specialize in being the person you put in a room when you want everyone to feel comfortable, included, and genuinely having a good time. I naturally read the room, bring people together, and help create an atmosphere where people can relax, shine, and be themselves. I love being around great energy and helping to lift the vibe so everyone feels lighter and more joyful.
When it comes to hair, my focus is more on how you feel about yourself, not on being a stylist or practitioner. I’m all about self-love and confidence around natural hair, especially for people who may have struggled with it in the past. I like to remind people that their hair is not a problem to fix, but a part of them to understand, appreciate, and embrace. What I’m most proud of is how people feel after being around me, whether it’s at an event or in a conversation they feel more seen, more loved, and more in tune with their own power. What sets me apart is that I lead with genuine love, good energy, and the belief that everyone deserves to have fun and feel good about who they are.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The most important quality behind my success is my ability to genuinely see people and make them feel seen. I naturally read the energy in a room and help lift it so others feel safe, included, and free to be themselves.
