Conversations with Alex Anders

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Anders.

Hi Alex, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
To start off, my name is Alex Anders. I am 27 years old, and I am from Miami, Fl. My journey began 5 years ago when I was inspired at Ultra Music Festival. I fell in love with the whole atmosphere of the music playing and people being united through music. I then went home after that long weekend and decided to download an app on my iPad called Virtual Dj which helped me learn how to beat match and make grooves. Fast forward 2 years, I bought my first DJ controller, the pioneer DJ-400. Which helped me big time because it was the cheapest but most similar controller to the club setups with the CDJS. At this point, I’m starting to build my name and was able to be featured on multiple podcasts and even on the magazine, which was in 2018.

Fast forward two more years which is 2019 going into 2020, I was booked by multiple clubs and events which really kick started my music career. Started DJing with my homies Justin and Lester as Los Tres Locos. I also created my own podcast and record label Rebel Society and then the pandemic hit. Once the pandemic hit, I really had to sit down with myself and really think about my future as a music artist. Clubs were closed and gigs were nowhere to be found. After sitting down and re-evaluating the situation, I realized that I need to take full advantage of the pandemic and work even harder on my craft because a lot of people quit or put their work on hold, and I wasn’t going to be one of them. Eventually, as the pandemic was happening, I started playing super underground events at these houses and mansions. Which was amazing because it was a perfect way to get my name out, which took my career to the next level.

Going into 2021 – 2022, The pandemic ends ad things are coming back to life. These were the years when all the hard work really started paying off. Started getting bookings left and right. So many people asking me for collaborations and for me to be part of their show. From the team over at Unkwn and Rekreo live, Keep Florida Clean, Bull Artist Management, and Dark Shades Records just to name a few because there are so many more names. This is also the time that we, Los Tres Locos really started popping off as well. We were featured on WTFN podcast and Rebel Society. We also headlined at Sky Yard and now we host our own events at The Attic, upstairs from Racket Wynwood. I’ve also been also to throw my own events all over Miami, like Sky Yard Miami Beach and now at The Attic in Racket Wynwood. Couldn’t be more grateful for all the people that have shown me and Los Tres Locos so much love. 2021-2022 really popped off for us cuz of all the support we have been getting and I couldn’t thank everyone enough.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This journey has not been a smooth road. Good thing is that I am like a 4×4 all-terrain vehicle so we just cruise over all these obstacles. Some days are harder than others and vice versa, some days are better than others and that is completely normal. It builds character and wisdom, and it’s a necessary thing that needs to happen as you progress in life.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My work is very unorthodox; I am a professional button presser, and create tikitiki music, A DJ and music producer lol. I’ve been a Dj and Music producer professionally for the past 3 years, but I started 5 years ago. My forte is Techno and Tech House. I really resonate with those genres the most, but I do experiment with other genres. I’m most proud of myself for the fact that I didn’t choose to quit or listen to people who told me I’d never make it. The fact that all the odds were stacked against me, and I still moved forward and was able to overcome the negativity that people were constantly feeding me. Even from my old friends and my own family members. I’m most proud of all te work that I’ve put in and for always being real and sticking to my ethics and never letting society mold me into their views. To be honest, I am a super humble dude and I view everyone as equal. The only things that set me apart from others are all the hard work and persistence I have. I really live by a no-quitting mentality.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I love this question, A LOT of big shifts, changes, and trends WILL take place in the next 5-10 years. Miami’s nightlife currently exploding at the moment. Right now, there is so much insider stuff going on that I can’t mention but expect the unexpected coming up in 5-10 years. I know Carl Cox’s Resistance just got their residency in Miami Beach at M2 club so that is gonna ROCK the scene. We currently are on the transition from the old generation to the new generation. I believe since the new generation is more progressive and open-minded, it’s going to put Miami in the best position in the industry economically and creatively wise.
