Today we’d like to introduce you to Aba Zions.
Hi Aba, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started out in an abusive and religious upbringing. My family would sing together at the Shabbat meals . My father was a drummer growing up and me and my brother decided to learn instruments.
I always was compelled since I can remember and dreamed of singing and playing guitar for a big audience on a big stage! Music was the one constant I was always able to use and write about my pain and feelings.
Iwrote my first song in 9th grade while drumming on a table in the school cafeteria. I started guitar in high school and continued to learn piano and then bass. After I left the religious community I continued to write and perform all over south and central Florida
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Leaving my family and deciding my dream of music was the only thing that mattered and putting all my energy and time into music. Many times Thinking of quitting and doing a 9/5 and sometimes doubting if my music will ever reach the people that need it
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a full time gigging musician who also teaches music and does private parties weddings etc. My recent goal has been to start focusing on my original trio “Aba Zions Trio” to play more shows. I’ve been putting together some shows starting end of 2025 “the original showcase” a show we put on with local original music once a month as well as psychedelic rock festival we recently hosted at Tea & poets Jan 16.
I’m known for my looping abilities on the guitar and being able to create creative and catchy songs.
What I believe makes me unique is my story how I grew up and how much it’s taken me to create my own identify in this world and always sharing my life feelings pain and the ability to create unique interesting and listenable music
I’m most proud of my ability to connect with the universe and be blessed with the ability to take mine or somone else’s reality and put into a song.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Going up to Laurentian Mountains in Canada every year with my family (actually we’re I first learnt the guitar) it always had beautiful weather and so much nature and a beautiful lake where we’d get to swim and boat in. memories I will cherish forever.
