Community Highlights: Meet Yael Katan of Yaels Skin Spa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yael Katan.

Hi Yael, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I got my esthetics license at 19 from Christine Valmy in NY. Since then I’ve worked at many different spas on 5th Ave and eventually opened up my Spa at 24.

Yael Skin Spa originally started in my parent’s basement in queens and evolved into the amazing spa it is today. I have since relocated to Hollywood, Florida. Over time I have found that I prefer the more holistic approach when it comes to skin. After all, everything we put into our bodies comes out on our skin!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been far from easy. I opened this business originally with zero money, a credit card, and a dream. I had to work my way up from the bottom and have since evolved quite a lot.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Currently, I specialize in lymphatic drainage facials. I have learned from the great Yakov Gershkovich and Cecily Branden and have since really implemented those techniques into my treatment room. I find them to be unique because while they enhance your skin externally they also improve the overall health of your body from within!

What do you think about happiness?
To be honest my job. I’m happy and lucky to say that I wake up every day loving what I do. I am constantly learning and evolving and I feel I grow together with my clients. A talent I did not know I had, became a full-on business and this makes me proud of myself.
