Today we’d like to introduce you to Sir Brad Blazar.
Sir Brad, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Like many, I grew up in a middle class family. My father worked as an executive in the finance and real estate industry while my mother stayed home until me and my siblings were older, then she went to work as a realtor. In my life, there was a third influence (much like Robert Kiyosaki writes about in Rich Dad Poor Dad) and that was my wealthy Uncle Henry who was the co-founder of a very successful woman’s fashion brand called R&K Fashions. I remember many years ago during the Thanksgiving holiday him saying to me, “Brad, if you can someday figure out what you do better than anyone else and deliver that to the world, it will help many people and in the process make you very successful as well.” As a young child, it really had a strong impact on me, but I didn’t recognize the strength behind those words until many years later. Fast forward almost 50 years and one day I was watching TV. I was viewing the Steve Harvey show and he was on stage addressing his audience. Steve Harvey said to his audience, “I believe everyone here has something unique and wonderful. I call it “your something special.” The problem is many of you will never find it and therefore wander through life unsatisfied and /or full of discontent. But, if you can find that gift, that something special, and deliver it to the world – it’s magical and will change your life forever.”
A few days later, it hit me like a ton of bricks. I realized my entire career I had been raising money and raising capital from HNW investors and helping companies benefit from using OPM (other people’s money).
So, as a result of finding my “something special” I created Capital School which provides coaching and mentorship on attracting raising and closing HNW investor capital so entrepreneurs can build, buy, or scale a business – or do something special like fund a real estate project. Today, I coach individuals in multiple countries around the world like the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United Kingdom and more.
What makes me qualified is the fact that over my career, I’ve raised $2 Billion through my efforts and the efforts of teams I’ve led. In addition, I wrote the book on raising money titled, Winning at the Capital Game – Using OPM (other people’s money) to Create Wealth. (You can find it and my other two books on Amazon)
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like any entrepreneurial journey, it’s been exciting but has had its ups and downs. I’ve shared the stage speaking alongside many notable and rather well-known celebrities like boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, Shark Tank entrepreneur Kevin Harrington, CEO of Music World and father to Beyoncé Matthew Knowles, Brandon Dawson – 10X partner to Grant Cardone, Rich Dad Poor Dad co-author and financial literacy expert Sharon Lechter and many more. The biggest challenge has been finding, hiring and attracting people to work alongside me that are dedicated, willing to work hard and share my vision. During COVID this past year, I hired a few virtual salespeople to help reach out to many of the people that had expressed interest in my services. It was a disaster and I had to let them all go. They would rather give in to the distractions of working from home instead of doing those things they were hired to do – as a result, they were not focused, making the calls, or performing at a level that came close to my expectations. Without the accountability of being in an office where you can monitor and actually see the people and create a competitive environment for sales, it became challenging. I look forward to moving sales into a new office in 2022.
We’ve been impressed with Blazar Group, LLC | Capital School, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Today, Capital School is the largest brand of its kind teaching people how to attract and raise capital from HNW investors. My first book, On the Wings of Eagles – Learn to Soar in Life became the #1 top ranked read for entrepreneurs when it was published in 2019. That somewhat helped launch my business as I quickly became a sought after speaker for radio interviews and appearances on stage. As a business owner today, my days are filled with coaching / teaching others, speaking nationally as well as hosting my top rated podcast Beast Nation (ranked as the #2 highest-rated show to help people cope with COVID-19 by Yahoo Finance / Yahoo News)
What sets me apart from others that claim to teach people how to raise capital is they haven’t come close to raising $2B from various sources like investors, family offices, broker/dealers and more. As a result, I bring a very different perspective to teaching and can take people on that journey as their experience progresses.
Lastly, I host a large event every year called CapitalCon. We bring many celebrity speakers together to share their knowledge with others. It’s held in April in Houston, TX and you can learn more about it here: www.bradblazar.com/capitalcon.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I really don’t believe in luck. I believe more in hard work. You create your own luck. As Ray Kroc said, “luck is a dividend of sweat. The more you sweat, the luckier you get.”
I simply believe people have believed in me because they see me showing up every day putting in the work.
