Community Highlights: Meet Sheri Fiske-Schultz of Fiske

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheri Fiske-Schultz. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Sheri Fiske Schultz, CPA/ABV/CFF, is Managing Partner at Fiske & Company, a woman-owned accounting firm specializing in Valuations, Forensic Accounting, and Litigation Support. She brings over 30 years of professional expertise to her clients. Sheri’s passion is mentoring women to help them identify their strengths, and achieve financial freedom, and success.

Before joining her father, Alan Fiske, CPA, she spent four years at Coopers & Lybrand as a Tax Supervisor. Since joining Fiske & Company in 1990, Sheri Fiske Schultz has continually achieved firm recognition as one of South Florida’s Top Litigation Support, Business Valuation, and Accounting firms year after year. As Managing Partner, Sheri played a major role in gaining past firm recognition of Best Places to Work and Readers Choice Best-Of for top accounting firms, top forensic accounting firms, and litigation support firms.

She has also been instrumental in mentoring other women professionals in the financial, business, and legal communities. Sheri brings over 35 years of experience to her clients, offering both professional expertise and practical insight toward business valuations and litigation support services. Sheri has maintained leadership and mentorship roles within the professional and philanthropic organizations to which she belongs.

This includes her leadership position on the AICPA’s National Business Valuation Committee, which has been instrumental in the advancement of the business valuation discipline. Sheri’s additional achievements include South Florida Business Journal’s Top Woman-Owned Business (2017-2019).

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?I have embraced this journey but, no, it has not always been easy. I worked for many years side-by-side with my father who taught me so much about the business before he retired.  After taking over the firm amidst having big shoes to fill, I sometimes didn’t feel respected as a woman CPA. Naturally, I felt like I had to prove myself. Overall, I am happy with where I am and what I have accomplished.

We’ve been impressed with Fiske & Company, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Established in 1972, Fiske & Company is one of South Florida’s leading CPA firms. We offer accounting, tax, and consulting services to individuals and businesses, as well as to legal and financial professionals seeking expert advice and support on behalf of their respective clients.

In addition to tax and accounting, my firm focuses its practice on business valuation, litigation support, and forensic accounting. We are an independent member of the BDO Alliance USA, a nationwide association of independently owned local and regional accounting, consulting, and service firms with similar client service goals. We have offices in Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach counties. For more information, visit our website at www.fiskeco.com or call 954-236-8600.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
No question, as I mentioned before, I believe my continued success in the field is due to my father, Alan Fiske, CPA, and my husband, Lee Lasris, Esq. My father is the one who persuaded me to leave a good-paying job at a Top-4 international accounting firm to help grow his thriving boutique.

He mentored me for more than two decades and helped me to become the successful leader and manager of the growing firm he once led.

My husband Lee also mentors me, allowed me to develop a new business, and to work the long hours required to run the firm.
