Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Rose-May Seide.
Hi Dr. Seide, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am Dr. Rose-May Seide, a Family Physician, and diplomat of the American Board of Family Medicine. I graduated from Medical School in Haiti in 1992 and worked for 1 year of Social Service in my Home country, Haiti. I then emigrated to South Florida and completed Residency Training in Family Medicine at The University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital from 1998 to 2001.
I graduated in 2001 and upon graduation received the Women’s Health Award and The Resident Teacher Award. I then worked as a full-time Family Physician for 20 years and served for 13 years as the Medical Director at the same health center in North Miami.
At that facility, I oversaw Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Staff and that long-standing commitment naturally set the stage for me successfully open my own Health Center in June 2021, Prima Health Center dedicated to providing a personal medical home, quality health services in a caring and professional atmosphere to the population of North Miami Beach and surrounding areas.
Proud of my Haitian roots, I care for a large Haitian Population, yet also find pride in providing health care to the Multi-cultural community that makes the fabric of South Florida as I speak fluent English, Spanish, French, and Haitian Creole. I love making a difference in my patients’ lives and serving a multi-generational population.
WHY PRIMA HEALTH CENTER WAS BORN? Having amassed so much experience over the years, I felt it was time to put my medical and administrative knowledge to the service of my community. The Covid Pandemic hit this community so hard that I realized it was the right time…. Health disparities are huge in Florida… minorities are underprivileged and underserved…
Prima was born to enhance the health of the population in the most effective way possible with all available resources in light of the increasing medical needs of the community.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has not been smooth and there were obstacles:
CHALLENGES FACED AS A MINORITY BLACK FEMALE PHYSICIAN.
1. “It is impossible until it is done “ The number one challenge was to put together a diverse group of competent professionals who believed in my project of bringing great medical care to the community and who were committed to helping me build a strong structure in order to achieve that goal.
2. Economical challenges: It is much more difficult for minorities and also for women to get funding… I had to push many closed doors to get resources.
3. The feeling of uncertainty starting a new project…. But also the empowered feeling of achieving my dream.
4. Finding the right balance between professional and private life being a female physician but also a wife and a mother of 4.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I am the only girl in a family of 5 children. I have 4 younger brothers and was given very early of lot responsibilities by my parents especially my father who is also a physician and who has inspired me to join that profession. I have always been a positive, happy girl who loves life and all the great things it has to offer.
Interested in so many things:
Sports: growing up I played Tennis ( I still play tennis regularly ), volleyball, and waterskiing, and took ballet classes, jazz, and Haitian folklore. I love music, and art and have a known passion for traveling and Photography.
Interest wise:
1. I dedicate a good part of my free time to educating the Haitian community on health subjects and I have a weekly radio show on Radio Mega 1700 AM: Wednesday nights from 7-7:30 pm called “ La Santé Sé Richès” ( meaning your Health is your Wealth).
2. I have been part of a charity organization that for many years has brought the joy of Christmas to thousands of underprivileged kids in Haiti. The deplorable political situation and the unrest in Haiti have put a halt to these efforts to enrich the lives of these underprivileged children living in underserved areas but before that, for more than 13 years I have had an active role in this organization named “ A Day with Santa “ in bringing to the children the joy of Christmas.
