Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Vasquez.
Robert, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My entrepreneurship journey really started in college when I was elected President of Beta Theta Pi. Before that, I always had an idea that I wanted to own a business, but nothing ever clicked. Leading my fraternity changed that. I loved every part of it. The stress, the responsibility, the creative energy. Building something with a team and setting a direction gave me a sense of purpose I had never felt before. That was the moment I realized I wanted to run my own organization.
After graduating, I spent time in Ireland and read a lot about mindset, positive thinking, and the law of attraction. I came back inspired and that is when the idea for Sail Wellness was born.
The last year and a half have not been easy. I have made mistakes, been burned by several developers, and have travelled a rarely understood journey of early entrepreneurship. But the same passion I had as fraternity president is what keeps pushing me forward. You cannot build anything great without loving what you do.
Today, that work is starting to show real results. We just won an award from Daymond John at the Mindspace event for innovation and social impact. We have early investor interest and a clear path forward. Sail Wellness is aiming to seize a once in a lifetime opportunity by using AI to simplify health for everyone.
Part of my inspiration came from my own experience. During COVID I dealt with health anxiety and learned a lot about disease and what contributes to it. You start to see how many toxins and unsafe products people are exposed to without realizing the long term effects. That made the mission personal.
This is how I started and how I got here. It began with finding something I genuinely love to do and committing to it. The rest has been learning, adapting, and refusing to quit.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Absolutely not. Entrepreneurship, especially before you have results or recognition, is isolating and confusing. No one knows what you are doing and in the beginning you barely know either. On a personal and social level it is difficult. I learned to make peace with that by accepting people for who they are instead of expecting them to understand my path.
I also made a lot of first time founder mistakes. I was slow to market and a competitor launched one of my earlier ideas before I could. I chased perfection and spent too much time doing the work instead of leading. I acted like an employee instead of a CEO. I had people pretend to believe in the mission just to take advantage of me, and some succeeded. My focus was scattered and not on the mission, growth, or building the right team around me.
Looking back, I changed everything with a simple approach. Get very specific on the idea. Know exactly what you are building. Then get the right people involved. There will always be distractions and tasks, but you must stay focused on what actually matters. Staying obsessed with inputs and intendent form outputs is a core principle of mine. Apart from this, staying mentally balanced is extremely important too. Entrepreneurship is a mental game.
Today I am extremely blessed. My company is lean, the people around me are talented and trustworthy, and we are solving a much bigger problem with a real mission behind it. I would not trade the struggle for anything. Entrepreneurship is a skill. You only learn by doing.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Our mission at Sail Wellness is simple. Reduce the occurrence of cancers, neurological diseases, and infertility by making it easy for people to shop toxin free. Every day, families unknowingly buy products that contain harmful chemicals and additives. The suffering that comes from exposure to these toxins is real. We are here to eliminate that burden from people’s lives.
Sail is the first intelligence layer that connects trusted scientific data on product safety directly to where people already shop. We gather toxicology data, certifications, and ingredient information from multiple reputable sources and unify it in one system that understands every product and every store identifier. We then show which items are safe in real time as users shop online.
Our technology gives users the power to protect their health without changing their habits. The experience is simple. Shop on your favorite retailers, and Sail highlights the products that are clean. No research. No confusion. No stress.
What sets us apart is the scale and ambition of our approach. Product safety information is scattered across thousands of databases, certifications, and categories. Consumers are left to figure it out alone. We solve that by creating the first product identity graph tied to real world purchasing. This lets us build multiple experiences that all serve one mission. A clean marketplace. A smart cart built with AI that links to any retailer. A browser overlay that guides people while they shop.
What we are most proud of is the purpose behind the work. Diseases like cancer, ALS, and infertility destroy lives. Many are linked to toxic exposure. If Sail can help reduce even a fraction of that suffering, then it will have changed the world in a meaningful way.
What I want readers to know is that this is a chance to take control. A chance to live with less fear about what you and your family are consuming. Sail exists to make that possible. We believe that everyone deserves a healthy life, and we are building the technology that can help millions achieve exactly that.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
A belief and trust in God is the most important contributor to my current and future successes.
