Community Highlights: Meet Rickie Walls of Bilingüe Blogs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rickie Walls.

Hi Rickie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Bilingüe Blogs began as an actual bilingual blog in 2016. The blogs consisted of articles written in both English and Spanish with the intent of helping people better their skills in either language (whichever one they were studying as a second language). I also would write about the unorthodox methods that I used to reach a native level of fluency in Spanish.

A year later, I began to create YouTube videos that corresponded to the articles. I began to reveal more in-depth tips and methods for the language learning process. I also began to make videos on the parts of Spanish that many people don’t talk about, such as the varying accents of different Spanish speaking countries. With this type of content, I began to see a lot of growth. As the channel continued to grow, I became an online language coach/Spanish teacher, and I also launched an online clothing line with Spanish sayings on the apparel to encourage conversations with Spanish speakers, as well as to motivate my students, subscribers, and anyone else who desires to learn Spanish.

Currently, I am developing my own Bilingüe Blogs Spanish course to teach people how to speak Spanish just like the natives. We have a long way to go, but it’s been a beautiful journey so far.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
For the most part, it has been a smooth road, however, learning how to market my apparel has been a process. Also, understanding what type of content my subscribers really need and want to see after 4 years is a struggle, but I always reach out to my community to get their feedback.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What sets Bilingüe Blogs apart from other Spanish learning sources is that we don’t focus on only one standard version Spanish, but rather we consider and teach about other accents/dialects of Spanish to make sure that when a subscriber goes out into the real world they won’t be shocked or confused by the regional differences in pronunciation nor by the slang that they may encounter. At Bilingüe Blogs we’re all about breaking the language barrier in an authentic way.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I don’t see the language learning industry declining. As a matter of fact, I believe that people are expanding more and taking an interest in learning a foreign language. My goal is for Bilingüe Blogs to become a powerhouse within the next five years.
