Today we’d like to introduce you to Renee Thomas.
Renee, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey really started with corporate burnout and a desire to create more career control and balance in my life. After working in a fast paced Corporate career, I wanted to grow my family while also building a career that gave me more control over my time and the ability to do meaningful work. That’s what led me into real estate—where I could manage my own schedule, push myself to grow, and directly serve people in my community during one of the most important decisions of their lives. Over time, I’ve realized that what motivates me most isn’t just personal success, but being able to combine career growth with service—helping others feel supported, informed, and cared for. That’s the path that’s brought me here today, and it’s why I’m excited about the opportunity to continue growing while making an impact.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges for me has been balancing personal and family responsibilities while trying to grow my career. This is especially true when I first started in real estate. I tried to answer every call, make every showing, and return every email before the end of the day. I was so worried about disappointing new customers that I didn’t focus on working within realistic business hours. This left me struggling and feeling overwhelmed. There were times when I felt pulled in two directions—wanting to be fully present for my family, but also driven to build something meaningful professionally. Learning how to set boundaries, prioritize what truly matters, and manage my time in a way that honors both has been a journey. It hasn’t always been easy, but those challenges taught me patience, resilience, and how to stay grounded in my ‘why,’ which is to create stability for my family while serving my community.
We’ve been impressed with Renee Elizabeth Thomas LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My work really centers around empowering people, whether it’s through real estate or providing my customers with access to affordable legal protection. In real estate, I specialize in helping families, small businesses, and investors find the right fit for their needs, guiding them through what can often feel like an overwhelming process. More recently, I’ve expanded into offering prepaid legal membership plans, because while working in real estate, I saw a real gap in how people protect themselves, their families, and even their businesses.
What sets me apart is my focus on relationships and education. I’m not just about closing a deal or making a sale—I take pride in making sure people feel informed, supported, and confident in their decisions. I think that’s why my clients trust me and often come back or refer others.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the fact that everything I do is rooted in service. Whether it’s helping someone secure a home, helping a small business find a new office space or storefront; or giving them peace of mind with access to legal coverage, my brand stands for empowerment, accessibility, and community care.
If there’s one thing I’d want readers to know, it’s that I’m here to be a resource. My services are about more than transactions—they’re about helping people protect what matters most, achieve their goals, and feel confident about their future.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My biggest piece of advice is to give yourself permission to start, even if you don’t feel 100% ready. When I was first starting out, I thought I needed everything figured out before I could move forward—but the truth is, you grow by doing. I wish I had known earlier that challenges and setbacks are part of the process, not signs that you’re failing. Also, don’t be afraid to initially offer your services to the people that already know, like, and trust you. I was very blessed, my dear brother Tesfa, a.k.a Kenny (as he was known to many) was my very first real estate customer. He believed in me and trusted me to guide him and his family to their very first home.
I’d also say to stay rooted in your ‘why.’ For me, it’s my family and my community. When you know what drives you, it’s easier to stay motivated through the ups and downs. Finally, don’t be afraid to ask for help or build connections. Success doesn’t happen in isolation—it comes from learning, leaning on others, and continuing to grow. Create the business that you want by first starting the business that you want; and run your business in a way that is important to to you and works for your life.
