Community Highlights: Meet Pete Grimes of Legacy Thought Leadership

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pete Grimes.

Hi Pete, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I feel fortunate to say I can consider San Francisco, Madrid, and Miami Beach as my home.

I was born and raised in San Francisco. I moved to Spain straight out of college with nothing but a suitcase and some cash in my pocket. I loved it so much that I lived there for 15 years, working as an international marketing expert before moving to Miami Beach, my home for the last 16 years.

Being from California, I like the expression “work hard, play hard,” and consistently mix international business with extensive travel and fun. In Spain, when I was not working, I was traveling. Among other regional ‘fiestas’, I did the ‘Running of the Bulls’ in Pamplona several times and enjoyed the amazing food throughout the country.

For this reason, Miami Beach is a great fit: People tend to emphasize the fun and the beaches, but there are many savvy executives and entrepreneurs from all over the world, which made it a great place to start my business.

I have been on the international circuit speaking and working alongside Fortune 500, C-level global leaders, and entrepreneurs over the last 30 years. Now, I help these visionaries and thought leaders share their message with the world to inspire the leaders of the future.

When I am not kitesurfing or training for the South Beach Triathlon, I am working on my business. This includes a Done-For-You service called ‘Legacy Thought Leadership’ where we work with clients to become an author, promote their brand, share their expertise, and solidify their legacy in a matter of weeks.

I explain this in my new book, “C-Level Author – 3 Steps to Legacy Thought Leadership”.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think about the expression, ‘Turn your mess into your message’.

Of course, business and life always have their ups and downs. Anything can change your job status from one news cycle to the next. Whether it’s a tech bubble bursting, a mortgage crisis, or a pandemic, you never know when the next economic meltdown will take place and put your job at risk. It could be something totally internal to the company, like a change in management, too.

That is the mess that led me to my message.

Too often I hear talented friends, family, and colleagues say they have to ‘polish up their resume again’ because their job is at risk. Or maybe they are just tired of their desk job and want to look for something else that will inspire them. Or maybe they are successfully retired and just want to do something to help others and improve the world, rather than playing 18-holes of golf every day!

So I started helping successful C-Level Executives and entrepreneurs excel at what they are already good at: Sharing their knowledge and expertise with the world. I help prepare their strategies for ‘post-professional’ life, leveraging their expertise, and turning their message into opportunity.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In short, our service combines 3 simple steps: Book, Marketing, and Impact.

Legacy Thought Leaders are visionaries with an important message to share.

Building their living legacy and inspiring others into action is what true leaders and visionaries do, every single day. The best way to keep their message alive and to reach people is to write a book.

You don’t need to be a writer to become an author. We make writing a book fast, easy, and fun.

Then we use the book as the center of a marketing strategy that is fully automated (working 24×7). This marketing creates opportunities for new careers, consulting, coaching, growing their business, or launching a new one.

It is really exciting to see how many people these leaders can help this way, like a 70+-year-old CEO of a large international charity group who is writing his book now to show others how they can build schools, hospitals, libraries, and homes for poor communities around the world.

This is my daily motivation.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
We are social animals: We strive to be together and feel connected. We are also survivors and always adapt to change.
