Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Kaiser
Hi Nicole, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story as it relates to my career started when I was 5 years old, walking construction sites with my father in Washington, DC. My father was an entrepreneur, who built his career in commercial real estate from scratch, to become one of the top general contractors for interior offices in the nation’s capital. As a young girl, I admired the industry because of the lasting impact that commercial real estate creates and the innate power that comes alongside being a place-maker. Seeing my father turn vision into reality was instilled in my development as I proceeded to study business, real estate and finance until realizing my personal career goal to be a leading commercial real estate broker.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wish I could wholeheartedly say yes, but no. I am still growing in the industry of commercial real estate, so I know more failures will happen. The initial struggles were associated with inexperience, age, and personal insecurity. Once I had a few deals under my belt, I proceeded with more confidence in my negotiations and business development, but I have certainly had my fair share of being too late to create a relationship before a deal transpires, losing a commission by not having proper exclusive agreements in place, and even having to part ways with a mentor as everyone is on different paths at different times.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am so proud to be a commercial real estate advisor at Blanca Commercial Real Estate. I work alongside industry powerhouses, most notably, Tere Blanca, our CEO, and Danet Linares, our Executive Vice Chairman. Blanca and Linares hired me straight out of college, with the suggestion of Diana Pubchara, our CMO, to lead the company’s research department following my previous roles in commercial real estate market research. Three women, in commercial real estate, in Miami. Leading the industry with the top firm that has exemplified place-making, especially across Miami’s new developments, notable assignments include: CocoWalk a mixed-use outdoor plaza which redefined Coconut Grove and received ULI’s 2022 Vision Award for Project of The Year, The Plaza Coral Gables which became the new epicenter of the neighborhood and recently announced one of 2024’s largest office leases to Apple, and my personal favorite which I have the pleasure to be on the leasing team for, The Offices at THE WELL Bay Harbor Islands, which is implementing wellness into work space and residences, a first of its kind for THE WELL brand and the first new office development in nearly 30 years in Bay Harbor; we recently announced the lease of Tom Brady’s offices at THE WELL. Blanca, Linares, and Pubchara have been role models in my development and constantly empower me to continue my education, grow my relationships, and shoot beyond the stars in all aspects as commercial real estate is more than a career, it is a lifestyle.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
As noted before, I recognize I have a runway heard for personal and professional growth, but so far in my journey, the most important lesson I have learned is to be patient and share your knowledge. We live in a world where tech, media, AI, crypto, you name it, are at the forefront of our attention, but often times, the grind and disciple of life seem to be overshadowed by the next best thing. Commercial real estate is a game of patience and time, the relationships one builds today, may not transpire into a transaction for 10+ years, but the compound of the interest put in almost always is worthwhile, as one of my favorite business idols, Warren Buffett, is iconic for believing. It goes both ways, learn from those before you, and teach those to follow you.
