Community Highlights: Meet Mariela Pereda of Venus Travel and Tours

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mariela Pereda.

Hi Mariela, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Thirty years ago, we made one of the most decisions of our lives. To leave Cuba in search of a better future. The situation
in our country was difficult, and thanks to US Visa Lottery, i was able to come to the United States with the eldest daughter My husband, full of coverage, set out on a small homemade raft. He was intercepted for the us guard and sent back to Cuba. where he spend a year and 3 months in prison ,but eventually, with perseverance, he was able to reunite with us in the great country to which we owe so much.
we started from zero. i went back to the English school and the little we began to move forward. with the support of my husband’s family. we entered the car dealerships. always working as a team, i kept growing and followed my passion for fashion, dedicating more than 10 years to selling clothing. later, i discovered my true calling: travel. i first started working alongside a friend, and with hard work and dedication. i founded my own travel agency. today with almost 20 years of experience in the industry , i have been blessed to create unforgettable memories and journeys for thousand of clients. along the way , my husband and i built not just a businesses ,but also a strong family and marriage that has endured through every challenge . today we celebrate 37 years together, with 3 professional girls 4 beautiful grandkids and the joy of having traveled 87 countries ,caring our roots with pride. Through sleepless night, countless miles traveled, and unwavering discipline, our agency Venus Travel and Tours has become one of the top in sales in Miami. we are blessed and forever grateful to this country that gave us today ,we stan proudly as part of the Latin American community, honors to share the history ,culture ,and tradition pf the world, culture, traditions of the world with those who trust us to make their travel dreams come true. Amen.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We had many obstacles but we did not lose our cool. With 3 daughters, we did many jobs at the same time. Selling cars, selling clothes, selling food, selling flowers was a huge challenge. Studying and guiding our daughters, taking care of my mother for 10 years with cancer was the biggest challenge. I became terrified. One day I took medication for a cold and lost consciousness. My blood pressure dropped. I fell when getting out of bed and lost a tooth. My neck was bent on the opposite side. I have been in therapy for 9 years and my neck is still a little sore.

We’ve been impressed with Venus Travel and Tours, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the owner of a travel agency in Miami, Florida, and I have traveled to over 87 countries learning about cultures, traditions, cuisine, and people around the world. I have carried my Cuban legacy around the world, never having thought of becoming a professional and sharing all my experiences. Despite so many sacrifices, I learned professionally that I love and dedicate a lot of time to share my adventures and magical experiences. In addition to sharing places with my audience that no one ever thought existed, I bring to the audience hard work, hours without sleep, long flights across the Atlantic, and finally, photos and videos of the best destinations. The best adventures for our clients, fulfilling dreams, and helping communities. We bring our donations, bringing grandparents to our groups, loving and caring for people, and bringing parents with children in need. That’s what our agency is all about. We donate time and human quality. We basically do travel therapy. I also create my own itineraries, study the areas, and combine continents. In other words, our itineraries are personalized and our passengers have been returning for many years, and that’s how we make the difference between the quality of the client and the agency. It’s about pleasing and fulfilling each project.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love Miami because I started from scratch here, and every day I achieve my goals. Every step I take in this community, I strive to create my own stories and overcome challenges. Many doors have opened for me here.
What I don’t like is that moments and new stages often change. The overwhelming traffic is the hardest thing we have here in the City of the Sun, but we adapt; nothing impedes our daily lives.
