Today we’d like to introduce you to Mariana Romero.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m Venezuelan, 44 years old, and a Certified Public Accountant. I arrived in the country 12 years ago with my husband and four daughters. We had to work hard, like all immigrants. We delivered newspapers at night, I cooked meals to sell, and washed cars at rental car companies… until, four years later, I was given the opportunity to join the largest financial services company in the United States. In three years, I became a Financial Broker at Primerica! I’ve been here for eight years, and last year I declared over $650,000 in income! I have a great business with more than 300 agents in my offices. I don’t speak perfect English! I help the Latino community achieve their dreams… by helping them with their finances!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been easy at all. The hardest part was learning the language as an adult so I could train and become certified as a financial advisor, breaking paradigms and overcoming the fears that most Latinos have… being a mother, wife, daughter, and businesswoman. My mother is disabled, and I brought her from Venezuela to live with us 10 years ago.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Mariana Romero Corp / PRIMERICA?
We specialize in financial planning, helping people protect their family’s income should something happen to them! And if you live longer than expected, we can help you with retirement savings, annuities, and college savings plans for your children—all with tax advantages for our clients. What sets us apart is that we’re not driven by self-interest, but by doing what’s right for working-class families who are often financially vulnerable.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
My focus and determination to achieve my goals! If you don’t have determination, along with many other things like discipline, personal growth, and skills development… but above all, focus, you won’t achieve anything in your life.
