Community Highlights: Meet Liani Antelo of Mindset Connect

Today we’d like to introduce you to Liani Antelo.

Hi Liani, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
After teaching in Public Schools, Private Schools, and Homeschooling; my team and I created Mindset Connect.

We were sick of the school system and all of the gaps, but didn’t want our children to miss out on the traditional school fun. We believe Mindset Connect is the future of Education.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being a pioneer is way harder than being a buccaneer. Creating something from scratch that hasn’t been done before is always a challenge.

Being part of out-of-system education is harder on funding. We have been blessed to be funded by our members, but not having the grants available for in-system education can be challenging. We have been blessed to always have what we need and more, but we are always looking for creative ways to fundraise.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Mindset Connect?
Mindset Connect is a non-profit learning center. We specialize in customized education, ale cart of classes if you will.

We are a K-12 out-of-system school that brings in the best of public, private, and homeschool education and blends them together. We focus on well-rounded education with biblical principles. Aside from core classes, we teach life skills, and mental fortitude, and give hands-on experience.

We understand that education is not a one size fits all. We cap all of our classes at 10 students to ensure a customized experience. Our electives go beyond the books, and we teach things like culinary, sewing, finance, stem, and so much more.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Mindset Connect wouldn’t be what it is without its board (Ely, Darcelie, and Dayana), teachers, or members. The Cervantes and Collazo families have not only believed in our mission since day 1 but helped build it behind the scenes and financially. New Dawn Church not only opened its doors to us, but its pastoral staff has been an intricate detail in helping us keep God first.

Our original teachers Dayana, Kary, and Melanie stayed flexible and provided key feedback to continue to improve our program. Lastly, my family. Derek, you’re my rock, thank you for believing in me, and helping me accomplish all of my huge goals. Lia and Dylan, thank you for inspiring me to create this for you and all of the other children who deserve to be seen and not just a number.
