Hi Jody, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Jody Gibbons and I am originally from Vancouver Canada. I came to South Florida in February of 2008 and started my journey in the tax industry in 2010 where I was hired as a Front Desk Receptionist. Here, I learned the front end of the tax industry; booking appointments, collecting tax documents and identification from clients and relaying questions and answers between clients and Tax Preparers. 3 years later, I was head hunted by a Tax Software Service Bureau where I not only gained further experience dealing with Tax Preparers, but gained considerable knowledege in tax preparation, tax software, IRS Audits and the use of bank products. Over the years I made solid connections with Tax Office Owners nationwide, as well as industry connections in both software and banking which have played an integral role in what I am able to offer to my clients since opening my own firm in 2018. With a combined total of over 15 years in the industry itself, Tip Top Taxes is Professional, Knowlegeable and Courteous, open year round, and holds a high standard of customer servie and integrity in this field.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Entrepreneurship is never easy and is always going to require time, dedication and consistency. I would say that my biggest struggle along the way was finding what marketing techniques work the best, and cater to all generations of tax payers. With social media at the height it is at during this day and time, it is of uptmost inmportance to ensure we are providing valid and legitimate tax information to our clients as well as potential clients that may not already use our services.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Staying the weekends with my grandparents. Being born and raised in the country in Canada, my grandparents had a farm with acres and acres of land. My grandfather would let me work out in the field with him, bundling hay and feeding the animals, and my grandmother would spend the day making fresh bread, cookies, cakes and other treats to last through the week. I miss them both so much and feel blessed that I was able to have two people that were so grounded in my life to teach me valuable life lessons as a child.
