Community Highlights: Meet Jeymarie Guerra of Supportive Engagement

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeymarie Guerra

Hi Jeymarie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey started with a clear passion for helping people, but it wasn’t always straightforward. Early in my career, I knew I wanted to focus on mental health and support people through their challenges. However, the real turning point was when I realized I needed more flexibility and control over how I could serve clients. I wanted to create an environment where support and empathy were the foundation, where I could shape the culture to embody the values I held dear.

That desire led me to start Supportive Engagement. It wasn’t easy in the beginning—I had to take risks, like driving around looking for office spaces, reaching out to professionals, and introducing myself to build connections. One of the most significant lessons I learned was to embrace flexibility and trust my ability to overcome challenges, even when doors seemed to close. I had to have faith in myself to open new doors and keep moving forward.

Today, I’ve built a practice that tailors services for clients throughout their lifespan, and I’m proud of the team I’ve brought together. We provide specialized care for various challenges, including neurodiversity, trauma, and family dynamics. What sets Supportive Engagement apart is the community we’ve built—one rooted in empathy, compassion, and support for every client we work with.

Looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing. Every challenge taught me something valuable and pushed me toward building a practice that truly reflects my vision for helping people heal and grow.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely been a bumpy road, with a lot of growing pains along the way. One of the biggest challenges was learning the ins and outs of dealing with insurances, which felt like learning an entirely new language. At one point, we weren’t receiving payments from BCBS, but we continued seeing those clients, advocating for ourselves the whole time. Thankfully, after months of persistence, we brought on a biller for the practice. She helped us recover the payments owed to us and continues to support us when insurance companies refuse to pay.

Although we’ve overcome some hurdles, we’re still working on aligning fully with our business culture and becoming the go-to place for mental health care. Every step, while challenging, has taught us resilience and reinforced our commitment to providing the best care possible.

As you know, we’re big fans of Supportive Engagement. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Supportive Engagement is a mental health practice that specializes in offering holistic, compassionate care tailored to individuals and families throughout their lifespan. We work with children, teens, and adults, providing a range of services that focus on addressing various challenges, including neurodiversity, trauma, family dynamics, and more. What truly sets us apart is our commitment to creating a supportive environment where clients feel heard, understood, and genuinely cared for.

Our practice is known for our specialization in treating neurodivergent individuals, particularly those with ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder, through customized interventions like play therapy and trauma-focused care. We’re also proud of the diverse team we’ve built, each clinician bringing specialized knowledge to help clients navigate their unique challenges.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the culture we’ve established—a culture of empathy, growth, and unwavering support for our clients. It’s important for readers to know that Supportive Engagement isn’t just a place for therapy; it’s a community where healing and growth are prioritized, and where we empower individuals to break through generational traumas and build stronger, healthier lives.

We offer services across the lifespan, from play therapy for children to trauma and family-focused therapy for adults. Our approach is client-centered, ensuring that each person’s experience is tailored to their specific needs. We aim to be the go-to place for mental health care, fostering lasting change for the individuals and families we serve.

What’s next?
Our plans for the future are exciting and growth-focused. We’re looking to double the number of providers in our practice and expand into Miami to reach even more communities in need of mental health support. By growing our team and extending our reach, our ultimate goal is to continue providing high-quality, compassionate services to as many families as possible.

We’re also focused on aligning with our mission of creating a supportive, holistic environment where families and individuals feel empowered to heal and grow. As we expand, we plan to maintain that same personalized care and connection that has been central to Supportive Engagement from the start.
