Community Highlights: Meet Giselle Chusan of Foodies with GG

Today we’d like to introduce you to Giselle Chusan.

Hi Giselle, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I specialize in creating content. I have always had a passion for creating, I originally started off with photography and wanted to do photojournalism when I was in Highschool. At that same time, I was traveling a lot so I really wanted to vlog my experiences so that others can see how diverse our world is and the number of things there are to experience.

Unfortunately, I never edited those videos and never had the courage to post them. Fast forward to about 5 years and it’s 2020 this was the year I was finally going to take my blogging seriously but Coivd hit. My trip to Europe got canceled. I was graduating from FSU with plans to pursue Medicine. LOL. I was miserable having to consistently study and not enjoy life.

I started a jewelry business and thought that a good way to market my business was by using my jewelry and creating TikToks on random things like tips for traveling and trends. In hopes that I would get a comment asking where I got my jewelry from. That eventually led me to post my first viral video which was me going through a drive-thru at the fair. I thought well this would be something cool to post.

Who doesn’t love fair food? and boom that got half a million views. I thought to myself hmm maybe I should post a restaurant since at that time my mom and I were eating out every day. Little by little I started to become better and what I do now and I am so blessed to have the ability and community to be able to help other businesses out.

It’s crazy to think that from one video I have been able to double sales at restaurants and even help them not close down. A lot of it has been consistency and the fact that I love what I do. Now that my platform is bigger I want to start moving more into the space of travel and food and really fulfill my dream of when I was a kid.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think with the success I have had I want to say yes but tbh it was been tough. I think this is a very competitive space and people don’t really care about the network unless you have something to bring to the table. I have really figured this all out on my own.

I have even helped others and it’s sad to see that the same energy isn’t really given back. Also learning how to deal with negativity was easy for me but at times people do say things that really are unnecessary. I think the last thing is that at one point I was really confused with the performance of my videos on TikTok.

It feels like the algorithm is always changing but it was really getting to me to where I thought I should just give up. I am happy I didn’t.

When things like this occur now kinda just looks the other way. Oh another thing is that in the beginning a lot of places just straight up would say no to me coming in and doing a video which I totally understand but yeah there was a lot of no in my first year of doing this

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Foodies with GG?
The goal of my business is to bring more awareness to local businesses and show people that there are so many things to explore.

I think what sets me apart is me, not to sound conceded but I have really tried making GG my brand and also I feel like I provide quality content that you’re average foodie may not be doing.

All the content I create is original, since the beginning I never followed any food content creators because I did not want them to influence the way I was going to create content.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
My iPhone13 is something I couldn’t live without, I film all my videos on there and use the app InShot to edit. I also couldn’t live without my sonya7iii which I use to take photos.
