Today we’d like to introduce you to Explorico Indoor Playground.

Hi Explorico Indoor Playground, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Explorico was born through the vision of Connie Valdes, a dedicated mother of four, an entrepreneur with experience in retail, marketing, and event planning. Over the years, Connie has worked to build not only a beautiful space, but also a warm and supportive community for families. As Explorico has grown, she recently welcomed new partners to help support and expand the vision even further.

One of those partners is Nicole Bortnik, an Art Therapist and Mental Health Counselor who specializes in infant and child mental health. Nicole has developed curricula, worked within numerous schools and community organizations to support child development and social emotional learning. She is excited to bring her clinical expertise and passion for early childhood to the Explorico family. Nicole is also a mother of three, and her children love spending time at Explorico whenever they get the chance.

Rounding out the team is Ayrton Bernuy is an Industrial Engineer with a master’s in finance. He has always been in the entrepreneurial world, having successfully founded and run Importaltoke, a business based in Peru. With a strong background in logistics, operations, and financial strategy, Ayrton brings a practical business mindset to the team. He is excited to apply this expertise to help scale the company’s vision and support its expanding programs. Having recently relocated from Boston to South Florida, he is also happily embracing a much warmer climate.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Each of us brings different strengths, perspectives, and experiences, and learning how to best collaborate and communicate has been what we are working on. Our goal is to continue to grow and to provide families with the warmth Explorico has for everyone.

Explorico Indoor Playground is a purposeful and enriching space that gives parents and caregivers a place to bring their little ones to play in a safe, clean environment, while they can enjoy some much-needed “me” time, and interaction with other adults. Once recharged- they can join their little one in all the fun!
Explorico offers a wide variety of classes daily. We have everything from sensory classes for infants, to preschool readiness, music classes, mommy and me, camps on no school days, and even workshops for parents. At the heart of everything we do is the belief that children learn best through play and exploration, and our programming is intentionally designed to nurture curiosity, confidence, and growth – the Explorico way.
In addition to play and classes, Explorico is known for hosting beautiful events and thoughtfully curated birthday parties. We handle every detail so families can be fully present with their guests and enjoy a truly memorable experience together.
What sets Explorico apart is our intentional approach to play, our focus on community, and our commitment to creating meaningful experiences for both children and parents. We are most proud of the warm, welcoming space we’ve built, one where families feel supported, children thrive, and play is both joyful and purposeful.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Our city is home to so many cultures and people coming together. As a board we appreciate the uniqueness everyone brings. We also love the food, the sun, and dancing.
