Community Highlights: Meet Elizabeth Ferrer of Diabalanced Nutrition

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Ferrer.

Elizabeth Ferrer

Hi Elizabeth, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have been a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist for 8 years and I have worked in various clinical settings providing medical nutrition therapy to patients and families. Last year as a 30th birthday gift to myself I decided it was the year I opened my private practice, Diabalanced Nutrition LLC, as a passion project and “side hustle” which has turned out to be more fulfilling than I could have ever imagined.

At Diabalanced Nutrition I provide my clients with a realistic approach to help achieve their goals, a balanced approach to healthy eating. I am not just a dietitian who lives to help others enjoy healthy meals, I am also a competitive endurance athlete.

I am a runner and cyclist and I have been very involved within the Miami community ever since I did my first full marathon (The Miami Marathon) at the age of 19. I then became an Ironman triathlete completing various half Ironman distances and 2 full Ironman distances.

Now I like to balance my time with running and cycling as an ambassador for ZIeL Concept Store in Coral Gables where I also provide Diabalanced Nutrition consultations. My goal is to help my clients reach their goals by establishing a healthy and positive relationship with food in the process.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all, I had no idea where to start. I was tentative about posting things on social media and defining the presence I wanted to provide to the world. I work with an Illustrator to help with my design and brand logo (Amalia Restrepo) which really set the tone and vibe for my practice. I have also found the importance of being intentional about everything I do and taking opportunities as they come.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Diabalanced Nutrition LLC?

She has helped clients manage their blood glucose, weight, and various conditions, including but not limited to, Diabetes, Hyperlipidemia, IBS/IBD, GERD, Celiac Disease, NAFLD, Low FODMAP Diet, and Sports Performance nutrition.

My services are tailored to fit my client’s individual needs. I provide expert advice, meal planning, and ongoing support to help my clients meet their health and nutrition goals. Whether they want to lose weight, manage a medical condition, or simply adopt a healthier lifestyle, my services can benefit anyone.

My objective is to support clients in attaining their nutritional goals, resulting in enhanced well-being and improved performance. The services I provide include in-person and virtual nutrition consult sessions and packages along with nutrition wellness presentations and public speaking.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I was born and raised in Miami, Florida (this surprises a lot of my clients). Growing up my favorite food was macaroni and cheese, not a fruit or vegetable. I have always been a sporty/outdoors type of athlete ever since I was a little girl.

My mom tried to put me in ballet and there is not 1 photo of me smiling, she quickly figured out that I loved to play sports and be outdoors. My favorite sports to play growing up were volleyball and basketball.
