Community Highlights: Meet Diana March of Bacan guaro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana March.

Hi Diana, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?

I started Bacan Guaro with the idea that aguardiente deserved a more elevated, modern identity.

Growing up in Colombia, it’s such a big part of our culture, but it was never positioned in a way that reflected its true potential. Together with my husband, we set out to refine it — focusing on quality, clean ingredients, and a more sophisticated experience.

Since then, we’ve grown the brand through carefully curated events and partnerships, always being intentional about where we show up and how people experience Bacan.

Today, it’s about redefining aguardiente on a global level — and we’re just getting started.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?

Not at all — it hasn’t been easy.

One of the biggest challenges has been changing the perception of aguardiente and positioning it as a premium spirit in markets where it’s not well known. On top of that, being a family-run brand means we’ve been very hands-on with everything, which comes with constant pressure and decision-making.

But those challenges have shaped Bacan and made us very intentional about how we grow.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I’m the co-founder of Bacan Guaro, a premium Colombian aguardiente made in Colombia exclusively for export. We’re currently in the U.S., changing how the world sees this category.

What we do goes beyond selling a spirit. We create experiences. I focus on building the brand—how it looks, how it feels, and how people connect with it. A drink with Bacan isn’t random, it’s a moment.

I’m known for paying attention to detail and creating environments where the brand feels natural, not forced. Everything is intentional.

What I’m most proud of is taking something deeply Colombian and elevating it without losing its essence.

We’re not trying to fit into a category… we’re opening a new one
