Community Highlights: Meet Dhavryn Donn of Donn Global

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dhavryn Donn.

Hi Dhavryn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Dhavryn Donn. I’m originally from New York but now live in Miami FL, and I’ve always been interested in business, finance, and building things from the ground up. A lot of what I’m focused on today comes from seeing how hard people around me worked growing up and realizing early that ownership and financial literacy change lives.

Right now, I’m building my company DONN Global which focuses on alternative investments relating insurance securities and cyber Insurance brokerage, I’ve also spent time learning the markets heavily, especially around technology companies and growth sectors. My goal is no longer about making money but rather impact. I am building the largest Black-owned financial services company in the world.

Miami became a big turning point for me because it gave me space to grow, think bigger, and really lock in on business. My family has been a huge part of that journey. My father, (RIP) was an oil broker who taught me most of what i know about business and My mother, who is a world renowned consultant has always been someone I could go to for guidance and perspective, Having her support has helped me stay focused during times where things weren’t moving as fast as I wanted.

Today, because of support we are a global brand that has clients that stretch from Tech companies, NBA/NFL figures all the way up to government officials. God is the greatest.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not smooth.

One of the biggest challenges was simply getting access and credibility at a young age. In finance and business, especially as a young entrepreneur, people don’t always take you seriously at first. You have to prove yourself over and over again.

There were also times where I had the vision but not all the resources yet. I had to learn how to build relationships, stay patient, and keep moving even when things weren’t happening immediately. A lot of people quit too early because they expect everything to happen fast.

Another challenge was learning how to focus. When you’re entrepreneurial, it’s easy to try to do ten things at once. I had to really learn discipline, structure, and how to think long-term instead of chasing short-term wins.

There is where i lean on my faith in Christ. My pastor S’ken Evans, who is also like father to me, has engrained the important having faith and belief in Christ which enables me to do all things, even things that don’t yet seem possible.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
DONN is a family office & holding organization built for permanence, structured for scale, and designed to operate at the institutional level across every vertical we enter. We aren’t a single company. We are a system of specialized operating entities, each serving a distinct function, all unified under one brand philosophy: that individuals, families, and businesses deserve access to the same caliber of financial, insurance, and advisory infrastructure that corporations and the ultra-wealthy have always had.

What we specialize in is the intersection of insurance, capital, and strategy. Most firms pick one lane. We built an organization where all three lanes feed each other a client who needs commercial coverage through DONN Financial may also need business funding through DONN Capital, or strategic advisory through DONN Advisors. That ecosystem is intentional, and it’s what makes us different.

What sets DONN apart is the brand itself. In an industry dominated by firms that feel transactional, bureaucratic, or inaccessible, DONN was built to feel luxurious but in reach, sophisticated, and personal. Our name carries weight because we’ve built it to carry weight in the room with a commercial real estate developer, at the table with a business owner seeking capital, and in the community where we quietly give back without seeking recognition.

What I’m most proud of brand-wise is that DONN doesn’t look like what most people expect when they think of a Black-owned financial services organization from the tri-state area. We look institutional because we are institutional. The brand, the structure, the strategy all of it was built with the long view in mind. We aren’t chasing trends. We’re building a legacy.

What I want readers to know is simple, we’re just getting started and were excited to serve an example of what God can do with a small idea.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Honestly, Jesus Christ.

I met Ryan Serhant a few days ago and mentioned to him that i would become the insurance version of him and his two word response sent me home on fire. Ryan said ” DO IT” with a smile. Let me give you something that i live by when it comes to success.

Faith is jumping into the water without knowing how deep it is, courage is remember to be confident in your ability that you know how to swim. I know how to swim but i also know that there is someone on the water, who wont let me drown as long as my eyes are stayed on him. That man is Jesus Christ, that as a quality is most important to my success.
