Today, we’d like to introduce you to Deborah McGarry.
Hi Deborah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I had initially begun my journey while attending university toward a BA Degree in Psychology and Fine Art. To help pay for my education, I worked as a model in NYC and Boston, which led to an interest in pursuing para-medical make-up artistry. I soon began a freelance venture as an Esthetic Rehabilitation Therapist, working extensively with plastic surgeons and a major Midwest Burn Center, assisting burn survivors, cancer patients, and others afflicted with skin maladies that required a custom-blend cosmetic concealer.
After completing further education and licensing in Esthetics, I worked with Elizabeth Arden Cosmetics in NYC for several years as an Account Coordinator for 26 department stores in the NY Metro area. I later accepted a position with a prominent Park Avenue NYC dermatologist. Within his practice over a span of 7 years, I worked my way up from staff Esthetician to Medi-Spa Manager, and ultimately to VP of Sales for the same doctor’s proprietary skincare line that was marketed to Spas throughout the US.
Soon 9/11 took place, and I made an abrupt decision to leave NY and move to Naples, FL, where I became employed by a dermatologist in Port Charlotte, FL. I later purchased and operated a Merle Norman Cosmetics Franchise in Naples Center Mall which I later converted into my own proprietary clinical skin care practice, aptly renamed it Dermal-Care Esthetics & Wellness Centre, and moved my location to the exclusive 5th Ave South in Naples.
During this time, I also worked as a part-time Esthetics Educator, providing instruction for students enrolled in the FL Facial Specialist licensing program. My Esthetics practice thrived on 5th Ave South in Naples, FL for 10 years, prompting me to open a second location 100 miles away in Boca Raton, FL, where I operated both locations on opposite coasts of FL simultaneously for 4 years, before ultimately consolidating to one location, currently operating in Boca Raton.
My practice, Dermal-Care Esthetics & Wellness Centre, located on Camino Real in East Boca Raton, continues to thrive, where we offer holistic, non-invasive solutions with clinical results for acne and aging skin. Other holistic services we offer include LED Teeth Whitening, Body Sculpting, Reiki Healing, Ionic Detox Treatments, and Ear Candling.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My biggest struggle was probably attempting to regroup after 9/11, forcing me to leave a successful and lucrative Medical Esthetics career in the dermatology field on Park Avenue in NYC. Luckily, that move proved to be a fruitful effort, motivating me to open my own solo clinical skincare practice in Florida.
My next struggle was to endure as a business during the COVID-19 pandemic. My business was inoperable for over 3 months, but thankfully, quickly bounced back to its former glory after the Pandemic. My current obstacle lies in the fact that I offer non-invasive skincare/treatments, and am not an advocate or provider of dermal injections, Botox, or laser procedures.
Frankly, in my 35+ year career in clinical skincare, I have witnessed one too many botch jobs and patients who become obsessed with unnecessary ongoing invasive treatments, rendering themselves unrecognizable.
Therefore, I have chosen throughout the duration of my practice to remain as a holistic skin care provider, likely limiting my perspective target market within my injection-obsessed geographic area. Nonetheless, my non-invasive treatments have proven very effective and my ample clientele who prefer natural methodologies have remained loyal to my practice.

These treatments offer appreciable anti-aging and skin healing benefits with little to no downtime or harmful side effects. We do not advocate or provide treatments such as BOTOX, dermal fillers, or invasive laser procedures.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
The most surprising thing that people find about me is that in our current society of quick fixes and overly promoted skin care modalities, I do not advocate or provide skin treatments such as BOTOX, dermal fillers, or invasive laser procedures.
I have been very successful in my 35+ year career in remaining true to my philosophy of providing holistic, non-invasive treatments that offer clinical results for acne and aging skin.
