Today we’d like to introduce you to Debbie Arrondo.
Hi Debbie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was involved in a serious accident in 1984 that left me with herniated disks and chronic back pain for years. I considered surgery and was referred to Dr. Bart Green at the University of Miami. Dr. Green suggested I get neuromuscular therapy from David Shea before considering surgery. After three months of extensive therapy I was pain free and avoided surgery all together.
I committed to obtaining my massage license and went on to receive instruction and mentorship under David Shea’s wing, of which I’m forever grateful. Since founding my clinic in 2007 I’ve helped thousands of others become pain-free by applying the same massage techniques that were so helpful for me. I’ve been able to pass on the gift of healing to my wonderful team of therapists who receive extensive training and under my guidance provide an outstanding level of care.
I started my practice from the garage. I’ve always wanted to work with athletes so as it happened, I started working on bodybuilders and expanded from there to eventually include professional and collegiate athletes from the Miami Heat, University of Miami Athletic Department, players from the NFL and MBL and last but not least the scores of weekend warriors that rounds up the roster. It is my passion and determination to see all our patients well. That makes it all so rewarding.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My growth has been consistent throughout the 20 years I’ve been practicing. However, that came as a result of very hard work and dedication. I found it hard to say no to new clients no matter how busy I was. Sometimes seeing up to ten clients/patients a day. My growth was purely based on word of mouth referrals, I did not advertise then nor did I have a formal marketing plan in place but rather let the results speak for themselves. It was not uncommon for me to put in 10 hour days working massage sessions plus another couple hours keeping up with administrative functions. So while my growth was steady year over year it was solely due to my hard work and dedication to healing others.
As you know, we’re big fans of Body Remedt Miami,Inc. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I established Body Remedy Miami, a therapeutic sports massage clinic in 2007. Our signature modality is Corrective Massage, blending neuromuscular therapy, trigger point and deep tissue techniques as well as myofascial release modalities. This technique addresses all muscular structure misalignment and is highly effective in pain management. We are recognized by athletic trainers, physical therapists, and orthopedic surgeons for our expertise in pain management, performance, recovery, and mobility. What sets us apart is our expertise in therapeutic massage. Unlike spa-type work that offer relaxation massage, our work is geared to correcting problems with muscular structure focusing on each patients individual concerns, so our work is highly personalized. We treat conditions such as neck pain, shoulder pain, upper and lower back pain, muscle strain and tightness, sciatica, hip pain, sports injuries, limited mobility and stiffness, tension and migraines headaches and frozen shoulders. What we want your readers to know about us, is our level of professionalism and expertise. We have a team of six highly trained and knowledgable therapists with a minimum ten years experience of therapeutic work. Our clinic has been associated with the University of Miami over over 15 years; providing sports massage service to their athletic sports program.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Leaving a secured banking career to pursue my dream in helping others live pain free was a huge risk. Leaving behind a steady paycheck was scary knowing that I would be starting my practice from scratch. I started working from my garage and built my practice one patient at a time. The risk paid off. I now own a clinic that has been serving the community for over 20 years with thousands of satisfied patients and provide rewarding careers to six amazing therapists who also dedicate the highest level of care to our patients. Taking the risk as been very rewarding. It’s paid off magnificently in realizing my dreams in both helping others and a growing my business.
