Today we’d like to introduce you to Camron O’neal.
Hi Camron, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey really started with me always wanting more for myself and never being afraid to try something new. I’ve never been the type of person who felt like I had to stay in one lane. If I see an opportunity and believe I can build something from it, I’m willing to take the chance.
I didn’t start with a perfect business plan or have everything figured out. A lot of what I know today came from experience—trying different things, making mistakes, building relationships, taking losses, having wins, and learning how to keep moving regardless of which one came my way.
Over the years, I’ve been involved in different businesses, but two that really represent where I am today are The Normac Group and The Yacht Guyz.
The Normac Group put me heavily into the credit and financial services space. Working with different people showed me how much credit and financial knowledge can affect someone’s life. Sometimes people aren’t necessarily making bad decisions—they simply were never taught how the system works. Being able to help people better understand that system became an important part of the business for me.
The Yacht Guyz came from a completely different place.
Living and doing business in South Florida, I saw how big the boating and yacht industry was, but I also saw an opportunity to approach it differently. Miami has this unique combination of tourism, entertainment, business, nightlife and luxury, and I wanted to build something that could tap into all of it.
What started with yacht charters has continued to grow into a much bigger vision. I don’t just look at a yacht and see a charter. I see an experience. I see networking events, brand partnerships, content opportunities, corporate activations and even a moving billboard traveling through some of the most visible waterways in South Florida.
That’s probably how my mind works with almost everything. I’m constantly asking myself, “How can we take this further?”
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned along the way is that having ideas is the easy part. Execution is what separates an idea from an actual business. As I’ve gotten older and gained more experience, I’ve become much more focused on putting structure behind my ideas and surrounding myself with people who can help bring them to life.
I’ve also learned not to be afraid of starting over, changing direction or admitting when something isn’t working. Some of my best ideas have come from things that didn’t go according to plan.
And I’m definitely not at the finish line.
There are things I’m working on now that are much bigger than what people have seen from me so far. I still wake up thinking about the next opportunity, the next partnership and the next way to turn an idea into something real.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The Yacht Guyz is really about creating great experiences on the water. We specialize in private yacht charters throughout Miami and South Florida for birthdays, celebrations, dates, corporate outings, networking events or just a day out enjoying Miami.
What separates us is the way we look at the business. I never wanted The Yacht Guyz to be just another company renting yachts. For me, it’s about the experience, the relationships we build and finding different ways to use what we already have.
A yacht can be much more than a charter. It can be a place to network, create content, host an event or even promote a major brand while moving through the Miami River and Biscayne Bay.
Miami is home, but I definitely see The Yacht Guyz growing beyond South Florida. Yachting is worldwide, and I would love to eventually have our presence felt in places like the Bahamas, St. Barths, Monaco and throughout Europe.
I always say, “I want the brand to have a passport.”
I also own The Normac Group, which is in the credit and financial services industry. They’re two completely different businesses, but I approach both the same way: find an opportunity, build relationships and figure out how to grow it.
I’m proud of what we’ve built so far, but I’m even more excited about where it can go. Miami is where we started. It doesn’t have to be where we stop.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I’ve called Miami home since 2015, and what I love most is the energy. The culture, diversity, business opportunities and lifestyle make it a city unlike anywhere else.
If I had to choose something I like least, it would probably be the traffic—but I guess that comes with living somewhere everyone wants to be.
Miami has played a major role in my journey, both personally and professionally, and I’m proud to call it home.
