Community Highlights: Meet Aylee Quezada of Scottie Paws Pet Resort & Spa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aylee Quezada

Hi Aylee, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always had a passion for animals and I wanted a change in career. I visited a fellow groomer one day just to see what grooming was all about and I fell in love with it. I then proceeded to learn to groom and opened my own business. I have been a successful groomer for 11 years now, same location, and have won many awards such as: Best of Florida, Best of Miami, Top Grooming Business. I strive to be better every day and to stay updated with the latest grooming trends and technology.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest struggles I’ve had so far have been two. One at the beginning, as I opened my business with zero clients and building a clientele was hard. The second one was during Covid19, when we had to close for 2 months and small businesses like mine did not receive any help and I had to pay rent without making any money. That was extremely hard.

We’ve been impressed with Scottie Paws Pet Resort & Spa, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I havea pet grooming facility, dogs and cats. I bathe, cut their hair and make them look and feel good. I also provide a non anesthetic dental cleaning service via a third party. I think what sets me apart is that I truly care for my clients and it shows. I recently started a podcast to educate pet owners on different subjects with the hope that common health issues can be avoided. I want readers to know that I am dedicated to making a difference and I love what I do.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
I learned to work hard and not give up. Covid felt like i was opening my business for the first time all over again. We lost a lot of clients because the mobile groomers were still operating illegally. But little by little I rebuilt us.
