Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Kamper.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Kamper’s Kitchen was born from my passion for hosting, cooking and styling all things food. After graduating college, I spent nine years as a wedding and special events coordinator for Hugh’s Culinary in Fort Lauderdale. My passion for culinary styling and food photography sparked a hobby that led me to pursue Kamper’s Kitchen on the side. In October 2021, I took the business full time and never looked back!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Covid was difficult because the event industry came to a halt. Although events were cut drastically in size, it created an opportunity for me to test out new menu items and displays for smaller gatherings, picnics, date nights, etc.
Balancing personal life while wearing all hats of a small business (chef, marketing, sales, event planner, day of set up/clean up) has been tricky navigating but I have a wonderful support system and have learned so much through trial and error.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Kamper’s Kitchen specializes in event catering, grazing tables, charcuterie boards and hands-on workshops. We are known for our charcuterie boards which are the perfect addition to any special event or gathering.
I am super proud of the client base that I’ve built and all of the fun events that I’ve had an opportunity to work on during the past 7 years.
I love being able to take the reins on event execution- offering customized menus with floral arrangements, specialty seafood, accessories and high end decor. Picnics for 2, cocktail parties for 50 or corporate events for 500- all menus are personalized towards each and every client.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. After 7 years, I am just now learning this. Hire a really good accountant who doesn’t mind answering TONS of questions. Lastly (and most importantly) don’t sweat the small stuff!
