Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Celestin.
Hi Alexandra, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew a love for makeup my senior year of high school 2014. Everyone knew how to do their own eyebrows and mine were really sparse. So I started watching YouTube videos and doing my makeup for fun. I didn’t stick to makeup until later. During my sophomore year in college, I started servicing others for faux and box braids. The summer of 2016 I made so much money, but I hated being on my feet for hours at a time just servicing one client. Later down the line I started falling in love with Makeup again and was charging $25 for a full beat with glitter and all lol. I was begging for models around this time. In 2020 is when I got an LLC and made my makeup business official . I started an online store and started selling cosmetics. I Was selling lipglosses, glitter, lashes, eyeshadow palettes and even hair bonnets. Sells were coming in slow but I thought anything was better than nothing. I eventually got discouraged and shut down the online store and stopped selling cosmetics online and started going to pop up shops till I sold out of everything because I knew I wouldn’t be restocking my products. After taking some time away from doing makeup and selling cosmetics, my dear friend Nathalie Setoute helped me come up with a strategy and game plan to better my business and market myself the correct way. Since, I have rebranded and have been allowing the Lord to order my steps.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Most plane rides I’ve gotten on has had some turbulence and that’s in the air, so this road on ground has definitely been bumpy lol. But I don’t worry because this is how the Lord keeps me grounded and at His feet. Not seeking His hand, but his heart. I feel like I’ve failed myself so many times with quitting. But you know what, I don’t regret it. There are so many mistakes that I have had to make to realize that I’m right where I’m supposed to be. Not late, just right on time with my calling and my purpose.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Absolutely! The risk I took with my business was opening up without a plan and following bad advice from people who looked like they were successful, but months later they shut down their business and never reopened till this day. I was told to sell multi products with no niche as a makeup artist . I was selling things I had no business selling like self defense kits. Now what does that have to do with makeup!? Lol . I retained money but lost a lot more in the process and a lot of those things I gave away or just trashed them. Now that I’ve learned, I’m always taking a risk with a plan .
