Community Highlights: Meet Adam Duckworth of Travelmation

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Duckworth. He and his team shared their story with us below:

Adam Duckworth

Adam Duckworth founded Travelmation in 2012 with a dream, much like Walt Disney when he set his heart on creating “The Most Magical Place on Earth.” That dream came true. Today, Travelmation is a national, innovative travel agency that creates unforgettable and personalized travel experiences for clients around the world.

After selling travel for three years in Ohio, Duckworth saw an opportunity to reinvent the traditional travel agency by focusing on digital systems and reducing overhead to create an ideal environment for experienced and aspiring agents to sell travel. Travelmation keeps costs to the agent low while offering onboarding, client support, continuing education, and access to its growing book of more than 700 vendors.

Alongside his leadership team, he has also built a strong brand that agents leverage to build thriving businesses. Its 2022 campaign, “Get out there,” encouraged travelers to start exploring again after the pandemic—a time when the agency doubled in size, welcoming its 1,000th agent. Travelmation now has over 1600 agents across the country.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Overall, operations have been smooth but then the pandemic hit and completely rocked the travel world. We were forced to ask ourselves – can we keep our business going?

We stayed hopeful and changed our focus to places people could go more locally. As things began to open up we expanded that focus. It wasn’t easy but we kept pushing forward and now we are thriving better than ever. Our clients are thrilled to be able to travel the globe once again and they are booking trips like never before.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Travelmation?
Travelmation is a fast-growing travel agency that has exploded to over 1600 agents across the United States. We recently landed on Travel Weekly’s Power List which highlights the top agencies in the country. I built this company to modernize the travel world.

We did this with innovative digital marketing strategies and were also one of the first companies to allow agents to market themselves on social media. Our agents help clients make magical memories in places all around the globe and help take the stress out of vacation planning.

We are an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner and an Earmarked Diamond Producer, selling a record number of Disney Destinations vacations each year; a Diamond U-Preferred agency for Universal Orlando; Preferred Partner of Royal Caribbean Cruise Line; and a verified Sandals and Beaches agency; among others. The company is part of the Travel Leaders Network President’s Circle and is a Cruise Lines International Association member.

How do you think about luck?
I think that with any successful organization, you need a whole lot of strategy and just a little bit of luck.

Luck is hard to identify and quantify but we know that to reach the level of success that we’ve had – there must have been some luck along the way. Most of the luck we have never seen but we know that it’s there and we are thankful for it.
