Check Out Sarah Morelus’ Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Morelus.

Sarah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hi my name is Sarah Morelus, a very passionate makeup artist, based in but not limited to the palm beach area. My story is a bit funny because although I’ve always been into makeup since at a very young age, I never fathomed that my personal interest in the proper application of makeup would result in to a full-blown career. It all started with me wanting to perfect the application of my wing liner, haha. I would browse YouTube day and night in search of such tutorials and ended up getting deeper and deeper into the craft.

Before I knew it, I grew accustomed to many beauty guru’s Chanels and would take it upon myself to purchase every, and any products that they’d recommend. Next thing I knew, I ended up with a full pro kit of makeup and thought to myself, hey maybe I should try applying makeup on someone other than myself. I started practicing on close friends and family. Once I got familiar with doing a couple different faces, I threw myself out there and started offering makeup application services to my social media friends. In the beginning, I charged a very small fee to help attract clientele. To my surprise, my first-time clients responded very well to my services, so well that most of them are still loyal to my chair today five years in.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Just like any other businesses, I have indeed experienced my shares of highs and lows. I have suffered multiple seasons of slow business. Most of it went unsuspected because many people seem to think that as long as you’re posting on social media, and advertising that business is booming. My biggest struggle came from comparing myself to the other artists that I looked up to. I wanted to win and be successful just like them, and I hoped it’d happened overnight. I would advice anyone old or new in business not to do that, lol. Your growth is personal when you’re running a business, and we need to learn to celebrate the little accomplishments that no one knows or think about. When your business isn’t smooth sailing as you’d hope, it can take a huge toll on you very quickly! I’ve had to learn not to be too hard on myself, embrace and learn from my trials and errors, which, has undoubtedly, shaped and molded me Into the successful artist that I am today.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a makeup artist, I help make women feel good about themselves and build their confidence by enhancing their natural beauty. I specialize in the enhancement of the facial structure, which we refer to as “contouring” in make-up artistry. My team and I cater beauty services for all occasions. We can achieve any glam looks ranging from the softest and most natural to sultry, bold, or glamours glams. I believe that every women is different therefore, I make sure to be extremely cautious about the choice of glam that make on their behalf and apply my skills in such a way that the final product reflects the client’s personality. I am very much a perfectionist and am known for my fighting  precision and keen attention to details. What sets me apart from all others is that I am literally my craft! I am passionate and dedicated to what I do. I am truly privileged to meet and work with women of all classes. The bonds, connections, and experiences that I walk away with everyday makes the money seem like a bonus! I love knowing that I’m my own competition in this industry. Everyday I make it my business to be a better artist than I was yesterday.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was very shy, rather closed off and to myself. I enjoyed singing, I enjoyed dancing but mostly, I always loved arts and crafts! When we’d go to the library at school, my choice of books to check out were always the D.I.Y crafts books. My creativity is all I had as a child, it was my identity, my only means of expression. I was a perfectionist even then… Everything always had to be perfect. I always went the extra mile on every assignments and projects. I was the child that always thought outside the box, trying to set myself apart by adding more details to everything I did! Even when I performed shores around the house, I’d do a better job than most adults would.
