Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Gazet Duchatellier.
Stephanie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m working in the night industry since almost 20 years, I started in south of France like waitress in several famous club in St Tropez and Cannes, than I moved to st barth 14 years ago I was public relation for a famous beach club, this experience help me to work my English and give me the opportunity to meet an international upscale clientele, few years after I took the management artistic of a new brand beach clib in st marten… All these experiences allowed me to explore the different facets of the hospitality, restaurant industry, and clubbing. And also to understand the tricks of this business both commercially a human.
So last year I got the opportunity to be the manager operational of the Moonbar rooftop in Maho, a new amazing place in the heart of the best area of Sint Maarten;
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s wasn’t t smooth at all, first because I am a woman… it’s not easy to manage a team of 20 or 30 employees when your are a woman; you need to deal with the chef, the kitchen staff, the waiters, bartender, the security guys, and also the artist who perform in your club. one part of my job is also to find and deal with sponsors to build a budget… but it was a good challenge, today I feel more comfortable in my shoes!!!
The other difficulty was IRMA, the big hurricane who touch our island in 2017 and destroyed 90% of the island… but we are islander, and we know to rebuilt the business, the island, and ourself!!!
And the last big problem I met like the all world is of course the COVID pandemic… one more time we had to adapt ourselves and learn how to live with the virus.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Well, I love my job because I do my best to make people happy and create the best party ever!!! When I see the club full of smily people, it means I did a good job.
Life is not easy, specially for the young people born after 2000… to be in containment at home few months. No bar, no cinemas, no nightclub… no birthday parties… it’s very sad.
And for the older same stress… no business…the fear to be sick or to lost someone of your family, a friend… was very bad times for the entire world,
Now we need more the before help the people to have happiness even if it’s just one night!!! It’s very important and I am proud about it.

Sint Marteen is an amazing island, first because its geographical location in the Caribbean Sean, we have an amazing weather and beautiful beaches. It’s easy to come with our international airport, it’s close of Miami, NYC, Toronto… It’s why we have more than 40 different nationalities, it’s very rich and unique.
