Stefanie Izzo, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.

Hi Stefanie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Thank you so much for the opportunity to share about myself and my work! I chose to become an acupuncturist and eastern medicine practitioner because this medicine is an amazing world of knowledge that has saved my life and the lives of so many others. I first was introduced to Traditional Chinese Medicine when I became a patient in 2009. As I was finishing my Bachelor’s of Music at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, I had begun to experience a rapid decline in my health. Through interning at a music production company I had connected with a practitioner of both the music and medicine worlds, and it all began from there. I attribute the wisdom of TCM and naturopathy to giving me a second lease on life and stabilizing me now 16+ years later. Fast forward to 2018; I embarked on my Masters of Oriental Medicine with a Bachelor’s of Health Science here in Miami FL. I completed the program along with four NCCAOM board exams to become a diplomate; licensing in March of 2025.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Building a life for yourself feeling like there’s never ground beneath your feet is difficult. But the results of hard work and dedication, along with fostering the ability to help others along their journey, is worth the adversity.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a licensed acupuncturist & herbalist, and a diplomate of oriental medicine. I go by Jade Tiger Health and work with The Yin Institute, specializing in all things women’s health. Currently located in Midtown, Miami at One Tribe; Miami’s premier holistic hub for women, mothers, and beyond. I treat many women throughout their pregnancies providing support for the various pregnancy symptoms and pain, breech baby presentations, labor induction, through postpartum. I offer support in balancing hormones, fertility, menstruation, perimenopause, menopause, autoimmune disease, chronic illness, digestive imbalances, pain management, emotional wellbeing and more. Customizing treatments to each patient’s individual needs and health goals.

Jade Tiger Health is about courage. Courage in discovering who you are, facing the full range of your emotions, accepting the things you cannot change, and finding the strength to change the things you can. In addition to acupuncture and herbal medicine, throughout my journey I’ve come to know qi gong as a way of healing. I’ve extensively researched chronic stress and PTSD, and the efficacy of Qi Gong and Chinese Medicine as supportive therapy, and I combine this knowledge with Five Phase Music Therapy techniques. I am also a certified yoga teacher & yoga nidra facilitator, and I incorporate those teachings into my practice as well. I firmly believe that the teachings of yoga and eastern medicine have the profound ability to heal, but when combined with music they have the power to transform.

Understanding how empowering and effective qi gong can be, I began offering online classes with Santosha Yoga Studio. I currently teach an 8 Brocades class, and a special edition class as part of Santosha’s “Meditation in Motion” series called “Qi Gong for Spiritual & Emotional Resilience”. The aforementioned class is also a part of my workshop and digital lecture titled “Qi Gong for Trauma Healing & Chronic Stress”. This lecture and accompanying instructional video are available at:

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I am also a hip hop artist and musician :). In addition to my other musical work, In 2021 I released a mixtape titled “AcuRap”; A modernized approach to ancient medical texts and esoteric tradition over dope beats. Available here on Bandcamp: https://maxxmillanova.bandcamp.com/album/acurap

If you’re an acupuncturist, a student of eastern medicine, or just a fan of hip hop I recommend giving it a listen.
