Hi Shartonya, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Madam Sharr Entertainment Inc. Was founded amidst my love for storytelling and my belief that Theatre can do more than entertain. It can heal , challenge perspectives, start conversations that people may otherwise avoid. What began as a creative Passion in 2019. Grew into a business in 2021 and was formally reconstructed in 2023. As a playwright and producer I began creating original stage productions centered around real life experiences, including relationships, family, faith, forgiveness, mental health, identity, and personal growth. Overtime, MadamSharr Entertainment expanded beyond producing place into workshops, creative, trainings, mental health, awareness, and opportunities that help emerging artists to understand both the art and the business of Theatre.
One of my most defined moments in my journey has been seeing my productions, grow from an idea on paper into an experience that brings diverse audience together. All in the name of the LOVE for theatre.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My journey has not been a smooth road. Building Madam Sharr Entertainment has required faith. resilience. sacrifice and the willingness to keep creating even when resources were limited, and next to none.
One of the biggest challenges has been producing quality theatre while managing the financial woes of an independent production company. venue costs. costumes. sets. marketing. talent. technical production and other expenses that can become extremely expensive very quickly. There have been seasons when the vision was much larger than the available budget. That taught me to become resourceful. build partnerships and learn the business side of the arts instead of relying on creativity alone.
Another challenge has been building consistent audiences and helping people recognize the value of original local theatre. I have had to learn how to market more strategically. strengthen my brand and create experiences that make people want to return.
There have also been personal challenges. As a playwright. producer. leader and entrepreneur each obstacle had purpose attached to it coupled with invaluable lessons. Which help build strong relationships with others and stand ten toes down amid even the roughest seasons with resilience.

My Work as a playwright producer, creative director and founder of Madam Sharr Entertainment Inc. I am most proud of my creative transparency to the Stage. I love to present stories that entertains while addressing real life challenges as well as specializing in original stage productions that explore relationships, faith, family, mental health, forgiveness, and topics that would spark conversations between the people of the experience. Behind close doors I developed 16 original stage please and I am especially proud of creating productions that connects with the audience emotionally. I have witnessed attendees laugh, cry and enjoy every moment of the show.
