Today we’d like to introduce you to Sammy Hunter.
Hi Sammy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story began long before I ever picked up a camera. I’ve always been driven by a deep curiosity — about people, emotions, energy, and the invisible threads that shape our lives. Creativity was my first language, and healing was the undercurrent that guided me even before I knew how to name it.
I built SourceFilms from that place of intuition and purpose. It didn’t start as a traditional production company — it started as a calling. I wanted to tell stories that weren’t just visually beautiful, but soulfully impactful. Stories that awakened something in people. Stories that made them feel seen, understood, transformed.
Like anyone building something meaningful, my path hasn’t been linear. It’s been a mix of bold leaps, reinvention, and learning how to trust myself at every stage. Every challenge sharpened my vision. Every breakthrough reminded me why I started. And every project became both a creative expression and a healing experience — for me, for my team, and for the audience.
Today, SourceFilms is more than a production company. It’s a vessel for storytelling, transformation, and connection. My work blends art and energy, intuition and innovation, spirit and cinema. I’ve reached this point by refusing to separate those parts of myself — the filmmaker, the healer, the creative, the woman who believes stories can shift consciousness.
And the truth is, I’m just getting started. My journey is still unfolding, one film, one story, and one evolution at a time.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The path definitely hasn’t been smooth. In many ways, my challenges have shaped the very foundation of who I am and the work I create through SourceFilms.
Building a production company while also staying true to my healing gifts and creative intuition hasn’t always fit into the traditional mold. I’ve had to navigate industries that often prioritize speed over soul, business over artistry, and results over resonance. There were moments where I felt misunderstood ~ too spiritual for the film world, too creative for the wellness world, too unconventional for the business world. It took time to realize that what made me “different” was actually my superpower.
There were also very real obstacles: learning to fund projects, finding the right collaborators, building a brand from scratch, and staying grounded through periods of uncertainty. On a personal level, I had to heal old patterns, trust my vision even when no one else could see it yet, and learn how to carry the weight of leadership without losing my softness.
But every struggle became part of the story. The setbacks taught me resilience. The detours pushed me deeper into my purpose. And the challenges strengthened my ability to create work that doesn’t just impress visually ~ but truly impacts people on an emotional, energetic, and human level.
I’ve learned that the road isn’t meant to be smooth. It’s meant to refine you, toughen you, open you, and ultimately prepare you for what you’re here to build. And for that, I’m grateful.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m known for the way I bring a soft, nostalgic, tactile feeling to my work, especially through analog film, which allows me to capture moments with a sense of texture, depth, and real presence.
My approach is rooted in storytelling through feeling as much as through imagery. I love collaborating with mission-driven storytelling that values authenticity, warmth, and humanity. I’m most proud of the work where I’ve been able to help elevate stories by creating visuals that feel lived-in, timeless, and deeply connected to the people in front of the camera.
What sets me apart is my eye — the way I see light, movement, and emotion — and the way I use analog to create something you can’t replicate in post. The blend of technical expertise with a very intuitive, human approach is what clients come to me for.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories is scuba diving the reefs. I loved the feeling of gliding over coral gardens and watching all the tiny ecosystems moving around me. It was magical. There was something transformative about slipping beneath the surface and entering that vibrant, silent world. It taught me wonder and a deep respect for nature.
