Check Out Raheem Nelson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raheem Nelson.

Hi Raheem, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m an Artist based in New Haven, CT. I went to the School of Visual Arts and completed my education with a BFA in Cartooning. I have a background in traditional cartooning and oil painting. Currently I create my personal and professional work on an iPad using the Procreate app and specialize in Graphic Recording, Portraits and Pop Art. My work has been featured by NFT NYC 2023, Arts and Ideas, The Shops at Yale, New Haven Cultural, The Arts Council, The Tie Bar and Power to The Patients.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My goal is to be a fulltime creative entrepreneur. I remind myself to enjoy the journey and accept help from others. My immediate needs are to find great clients and do good work.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My creativity has expanded in the past year. I’m a cartoonist (mobile digital) and have since expanded into photography, cinematography and building a robust YouTube channel. Most recently I shot and directed a commercial with my Osmo Pocket 3. My interests as of late involved just documenting what I do for both personal and professional art. I am also heavily into personal style. I go between suiting, street wear and casual wear depending on how I’m feeling or the venue. My clothes are another way to express myself in a creative way.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
AI has been a big seismic shift for digital artists everywhere. It’s my hope that we find our footing in this new landscape.
