Check Out Peter Parente’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Peter Parente

Hi Peter, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 1990 I had the opportunity to attend a summer arts program at Brevard college where I met many students my age preparing for a career in music. My peers’ encouragement and support from my family led me to enrolling for school there. After two great years of music study I was accepted and transferred to the University of Miami. The relationships I made in Miami and the invaluable education I received helped build the foundation for the business I have today as a freelance performer and recording guitarist. I have had the opportunity to record and tour with many world class artists such as Gloria Estefan, Julio Iglesias, Chayanne, Jon Secada, Cher and KC and the Sunshine Band.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Fortunately one project has seemingly led me to another. Traveling can be difficult and many jobs do not go smoothly. But I am grateful to have had longevity in the music business and blessed with good friends and colleagues.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My main skills are as a guitar player and singer, and I play many other instruments proficiently. With about 25 years of music studio experience I have also become a competent audio engineer. I have experience in a variety of styles and venues such as jazz, rock, pop and country music and performing live in concerts, musical theater and commercial venues. The things that most set me apart are my ability to learn music quickly, to arrange music and write parts and to efficiently organize performances.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
In my childhood years I was very curious about hobbies and occupations. I was lucky to have supportive parents that helped me pursue my interests, such as sports, music, dance, drama, cars, cooking and fitness. Being in front of people has always made me nervous. Maybe I’ve grown better at dealing with it as I have aged.
