Today we’d like to introduce you to Orla Ananda.
Hi Orla, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Initially, I didn’t want to work 9-5 or for someone else. My business kind of started by itself. What began as a hobby of painting murals, canvases, and creating collages eventually became my full-time job. I experienced significant growth in the summer of 2022, which led me to start my own business. I took a leap of faith, hoping that my creative work could support my lifestyle. And it did!
Today I work with a variety of clients nationally and continue to grow and pivot finding that deeper purpose behind my work while supporting my team and my vision. The deeper purpose of my business is to enhance people’s lives and stimulate businesses by transforming and beautifying the spaces we inhabit. It genuinely makes a difference.
So in answer to your question, my primary thought was, “Why do I want to dedicate my life to what I do?”. That “Why” opened the door to endless opportunities. It’s all about the intention for me.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it wasn’t smooth at all. Good things don’t come easily. The issue is that we often only see the pinnacle of people’s success, not the daily hard work that leads to it. The struggles, challenges, and rejections are hidden. Success doesn’t happen overnight. Besides, wouldn’t it be boring if it did?
The most valuable lesson I’ve learned from overcoming challenges is the importance of seeking help from those around me. I don’t face them alone. My therapist, mentor, family, friends, and social media followers all provide support. Additionally, I dedicate ample time to self-care activities such as meditation, yoga, breath work, and cold plunges.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I paint from my heart and I paint with a purpose. I think I truly create murals for each space with an honest desire to help a client or a business to stand out, to become unique. It’s always a collaborative process. It’s not about me, it’s about working together and bringing the best out of every project. I think my genuine intention to help is what makes my art and my business stand out.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Everything happens for a reason and every challenge, person, and event is an opportunity to learn something and get stronger, healthier, and better. I look back on all my falls and difficult situations and think: “Thank God it happened!”
