Check Out Nikolas Rodriguez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikolas Rodriguez.

Hi Nikolas, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The NikAtNite project started 2 years ago when I moved back to Miami from Jacksonville Beach, Florida. I had been throwing pregames and afters in my kitchen before and after going to the beach bars and wanted to take the project to the next level by playing clubs and releasing music. I’m born and raised in Miami always hearing reggaeton and Latino music at parties and have been obsessed with dance music all my life so combining the two and making Latin tech just felt natural.

I have been lucky enough to be a resident DJ at Astra in Wynwood for a few years now. Playing there consistently has given me the perfect opportunity to get to know Miami on an intimate level. Fellow house DJ Dubzy and I came together and started throwing parties under the name 20five8records recently and our parties have been growing at a great pace with crazy talent on the lineup each time with acts including Lvndo, Megusta, Ricart Maria, the list goes on. Very grateful for the launchpad that has led to me playing many of my favorite Miami venues.

My first signed release, a remix of Area Codes by Ludacris, came out on Bread-N-Butter Records out of San Francisco earlier this year. My follow up release, an original track titled Socadao was the lead track on Beat Cartel’s Miami Music Week VA which topped in at #35 on Beatport’s Top Releases chart. I have more originals, remixes, and collaborations coming out this year that I’m really excited to share so thanks to everyone who’s streamed so far.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have been insanely blessed with my career but to call it a smooth road would be a flat out lie.

Life is a game of balance and sometimes we don’t always win. I think one of the biggest challenges for artists at my level that still have their full time career is finding time to create while managing everything else that comes with life. If you care about your project you’re going to have to sacrifice and unfortunately that sacrifice sometimes comes as the cost of relationships, family time, career growth, you name it. But if you believe in your project then it’s all worth it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Latin tech house music producer and DJ. I specialize in blending reggaeton and hip-hop into percussive heavy and groove driven tracks. I’m known for high energy on the dancefloor and a deep bag of underground edits. I’m most proud of my ability to not just meet a crowd where they’re at, but to bring them into my world and take control for my time behind the decks. Although I have deep technical knowledge, one of my main differentiators is the ability to disregard traditional rules and play my own game.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
On top of dance music I also love hardcore and alternative music. I grew up playing guitar and always screaming the unclean vocals to all my favorite songs. The energy at those shows is unmatched, pure raw emotion in a room. Even though I don’t play that kind of music live, I try to carry that attitude through my art and performances.

Find me on all socials @nikatniteprod, I really hope to connect on the dancefloor soon and I hope you enjoy my music.
