Check Out Martine Fortune’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Martine Fortune.

Hi Martine, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m someone who likes to work hard, but I definitely play a lot harder. I’d say I love to laugh and have fun. I’m Haitian and was raised in New York. I do stay very close to my Caribbean background. I’ve grown a lust and love for art, film and entertainment and have finally decided to use it as an outlet. Living in Miami has inspired me the way no other place has. Its fueling my dreams, my fitness journey and my curiosity. It’s also changed my day to day lifestyle.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest struggle is determination and consistency. Being true to yourself, being a self-starter. No matter what you’re doing, Talking to and trusting God (and yourself) to get through it is the hardest part. Everyone has goals and dreams-but the persistence and self-motivation is what get you through that finish line.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m currently chasing my dream life after spending so many years going to school to chase a career. I was in grad school in New York at the start of 2020. I got an MBA and an MPH. While this sounds good- I never really knew what I wanted to do. I had academic talents, but I’ve always been interested in media, the arts and entertainment.

When the pandemic hit, I was asked to move down to Miami to do contract work for the Centers for Disease Control. I thought I was dreaming. I was really just happy to have a job post-grad… but Miami has always been my favorite city, and now I get to call it home.

This inspired the hell out of me! I feel free to do what I want…chase down my dreams, and not put myself in a box. While I still do work for the CDC, I’ve recently done a reality show for TLC and am pursuing an acting career. I’ve been taking classes to push myself into new genres. And I’ve been trying to stay fit and look good doing it! One thing my 20s has taught me – NEVER place limits on yourself!

What does success mean to you?
Success has so many faces. Success could be saving money, getting closer to God…it could be raising great children. Success could also be just getting out of bed in the morning, cleaning your space and making yourself comfortable. The small things that make you better physically, mentally and spiritually make up success. Consistency, determination. People tend to think money, degrees, or status mark success, and it can for some. But I think the term is very personal.
