Today we’d like to introduce you to Mario Idrovo.
Mario, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m a coffee professional with a lifelong curiosity for entrepreneurship and creating meaningful experiences through coffee. About ten years ago, while living in my home country of Ecuador, I came up with the idea of offering specialty coffee catering for events—a concept that was still very new at the time. The goal was simple: bring high-quality coffee and the craft of a barista to places where people least expected it, turning ordinary gatherings into memorable experiences.
Over the years, that idea has grown into something much bigger. What started as a small project has become a full-fledged business that now serves events both in Ecuador and South Florida, including Miami. We’ve had the chance to work with companies, weddings, and private celebrations, all while sharing our passion for coffee with hundreds of people.
I believe there’s still a massive opportunity to expand coffee culture, especially in event settings. Many people have never experienced what truly great coffee tastes like when prepared by professionals using quality ingredients. That’s what drives me—to keep elevating how people experience coffee and to promote craftsmanship, connection, and excellence wherever our carts go.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. In the beginning—and still sometimes today—it’s a real challenge to explain exactly what we do. Many people who are new to the concept think coffee catering means showing up to an event with large containers of cheap brewed coffee and pouring it into paper cups. But what we do is the complete opposite. It’s about bringing the full specialty coffee experience—the same quality, attention to detail, and atmosphere you’d find at a high-end coffee shop—directly to your event.
This has been one of the biggest challenges: redefining what people expect when they hear “coffee catering.” But slowly and surely, the perception is changing. More and more clients are beginning to understand and appreciate the difference, and the idea of having a premium coffee experience at events is becoming increasingly common.

I’m a coffee professional from Ecuador with over 16 years of experience in the industry. The journey hasn’t been easy—both becoming a coffee professional and building a coffee catering company have come with many challenges—but it has also been incredibly rewarding.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of traveling the world through coffee, meeting extraordinary people, and gaining unique experiences that have shaped who I am today. I’m a certified elite coffee trainer, and I’ve trained baristas from around the world to become true professionals in the craft.
Now, I channel all of that experience into my business, Cafering, based in Miami. We specialize in high-end coffee catering for events, bringing the quality and atmosphere of a specialty coffee shop directly to our clients. I’m proud to have built a company that operates in both Ecuador and the United States, continuing to share my passion for coffee and excellence across borders.
