Check Out LJ Smooth’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to LJ Smooth.

Hi LJ, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born and raised in the Virgin Islands and movies to the USA about 11 years ago. Music has always been an interest of mine from a young age. I grew up playing the piano and also played the drums in church. After being in a few different music groups, I decided to pursue my solo career. Although music is my creative passion, I am also passionate about technology, and being in this field has allowed me to travel and create many long-lasting relationships. I would consider myself a business-minded musician. As we know, some artists can be purely free-spirited, which I am to an extent, but my business acumen has allowed me to make profitable decisions while making music.

You may have seen me on Oprah’s reality TV show “Ready To Love” on the OWN network and Hulu, which was an exciting experience. Being on national TV as you date multiple women hoping to find love was very interesting, but the experience was worth it.

Miami, FL is known as one of the epicenters for Hot Urban Latin vibes and Caribbean feels, an environment in which songwriter and artist LJ Smooth has assimilated and thrived. But being a Virgin Islands native, “Smooth” did not need to assimilate too much as he brought his own roots and flavor to the Miami music culture. Carnival plays a big role in the type of music he writes and sings; which is further influenced by a combination of Pop, R&B, Dancehall, and Afrobeat. Check out his music videos on his YouTube page: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdlAKUzdHmzUTzLOysJP8eA. His music can be found on all platforms. You can also connect with him via social media @lj_smoothmusic.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing in life comes easy; anything that comes easy doesn’t last. The road to where I am today was full of twists and turns, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. It only makes success sweeter. As we all know, the music business can be tough. Getting support from friends and family is even tougher, but once you continue pushing and the world listens, they eventually come around. Being great takes time, and I’m improving daily in music, business, and personal life. I remain true to my purpose, my journey, and most of all myself. Once I continue to do so, I will continue to win!

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, music has always been an interest of mine. Technology and Business as well. I’ve always been outgoing and love being in front of the camera. You can find family videos of me speaking in front of the camera from a young age. I’ve always been adventurous, and adrenaline brings me excitement. Whether riding dirt bikes down steep hills in the mountains or diving off tall bridges into the water, my days growing up back in the Islands were nothing short of exciting. Carnival played a big part in my life as well as you know us Island people love to party! Growing up, I also played sports. Baseball was my favorite. I played 2nd base and center field on the Virgin Islands National team. We traveled to different countries to participate in the Little Legal World Series tournaments.
