Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Valdes.
Hi Kimberly, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hi there! I’m Kim, the founder and heart behind KBella Crafts. It’s truly a pleasure to meet you. KBella Crafts is a one-woman, faith-filled small business based in Miami, Florida specializing in handcrafted Christian wood art.
This journey began after the heartbreaking loss of our dear family friend Andrea. She was only 18 when her life was tragically taken in a senseless act of violence. In the midst of deep grief, what brought comfort to her family and friends was coming together in prayer…especially through the rosary to reflect, heal, and cherish the joyful memories we shared. It was through Jesus that we found peace and purpose again.
KBella was born from that personal experience, with a mission grounded in Love, Service, Charity, and the powerful message of Hope. I began by creating special pieces to honor Andrea, using her signature to make heartfelt gifts for her family and keep her beautiful legacy alive. For the first four years, I shared my creations locally at pop-up markets and churches throughout Miami. In recent months, KBella has grown beyond those roots, reaching 19 states across the U.S. and even touching hearts internationally in the U.K. My goal remains simple yet meaningful: to continue spreading love, joy, and faith through my art, one piece at a time.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The past five years have been anything but easy. There were moments when I questioned the journey…or even thought about giving up altogether. But I stayed persistent and reminded myself that growth takes time; you don’t become a doctor in a year. Along the way, there were failed projects, wood-cutting mistakes, paint mishaps, and more misspelled names than I can count. Still, each setback became a lesson, and I always started again, stronger and more determined.
I’ll never forget setting up for a pop-up market earlier this year and not making a single sale. That moment of quiet reflection helped me see that something needed to change. While I cherished connecting with customers face-to-face, I realized my heart, and my business, needed room to grow. So I shifted my focus to the online marketplace, expanding my reach across the United States and sharing my handcrafted pieces with hearts and homes near and far.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I create sacred wood keepsakes, heartfelt pieces designed to honor every step of your faith journey, from baptisms to weddings and beyond. Each handcrafted item is made with care and grace, blending timeless tradition with personalized detail.
Some of my most loved creations include wood bead rosaries, engraved wooden crosses, and home décor featuring meaningful Bible verses of your choice. Another customer favorite is my Bible book stack collection, inspired by cozy farmhouse décor and personalized with your family’s names and special dates, a beautiful way to celebrate faith, love, and legacy.
During the height of the COVID-19 shutdown, my daughter and I started crafting together as a way to bring hope and meaning into the homes of friends and loved ones. That simple act of creating, guided by love, faith, and service, planted the seed that would become KBella Crafts. I didn’t start with a business plan or branding strategy. I bought a logo on Etsy and simply followed my heart, one handmade piece at a time.
Now, five years later, KBella Crafts is growing in spirit and in purpose. Over the past few months, I’ve spent time in prayer, reflection, and journaling; asking God to guide the next steps. What emerged is a refreshed look and feel that better reflects the heart of this business: one that’s rooted in faith, hope, and the warmth of handmade treasures.
Which leads to what I am most proud of…”Rebranding KBella Craffts” which offers a more polished appearance, a cozy and sacred vibe, and a smoother experience when shopping. I’m introducing new meaningful and trendy pieces, continuing to use natural materials like wood, twine, pearls, and beads that bring an earthy, peaceful feel into your home. This also includes a thoughtful box-opening experience, designed to make receiving one of our creations feel just as special as the piece itself. And…free shipping is now part of the blessing too!
Through every season, KBella Crafts will remain a place where faith meets creativity, and where each keepsake is made with love, intention, and a prayer in every detail.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was more of a tomboy…always playing sports and spending time in the garage with my dad, building things out of scrap wood. I still remember the feeling of empowerment when I got to use his tools and the joy I found in my school woodshop classes. The passion for creating was always there, though I never imagined it would one day become my career.
Faith wasn’t a big part of my childhood, but everything changed my senior year of high school when I met a guy, and fell in love with not just him, but his faith-filled family. I began attending church with them and felt something stir in my heart. I decided to take classes and eventually received all my sacraments to become Catholic.
As the years went on, Jesus became the center of our marriage and our family. Through life’s ups and downs, I’ve witnessed the peace and strength that come from walking with God. That’s why I pour my heart into every creation…to share His goodness and love through the art of handcrafted, faith-inspired pieces.
